Advice on 2019 FIESTA ST

Hello everyone,

Im working a deal right now on a 2019 Ford Fiesta ST, it has 36 miles on it now which I put 30 on myself. Love the car, 2nd and 3rd gear is insane. 1st gear taking off feels weird, like something is grabbing in the powertrain, any ideas on that?

right now out the door price is 18,663.82. Not planning on getting any add ons or extended warranties. Does this sound like a good deal? I used a friends X Plan to get the lowest price possible.

Sounds like a good deal to me.
Something grabbing in the power train is most likely the traction control. Next drive try turning it off by holding the ESC button down for a few seconds.

Also, 1st gear has a torque limit set in the computer. Without it you would be smoking a tire.

Sounds like a good deal. Just make sure you don't want any of the add ons like recaros, moonroof or nav. Sometimes I wonder if I should've gotten a moonroof and recaros. But I guess slicktop=race spec

Yup. 1st gear doesn't seem to go into boost by design.

When I was shopping for a new one last year, I was specifically looking for base seats thinking I would hate the high bolstered Recaros (6'2", a smidge over 200lbs). But then something happened, a barely used (2,500 mi) 2017 w/recaro+sunroof fell into my lap. It was such a good deal that I couldn't pass it up.

And after owning the car for a few months, I can honestly say that I don't think the car would the same without those seats. It takes it to another level.

Being a tad big, they took a week to get used to on the thighs... but after the initial break-in, they are the most comfy seats I have ever had, bar-none.

The blue is shipping covers, they didn't take them off till I drove it

I went for another drive, turned off esc and it still did it, but only when turning. Thinking it's the tires grabbing the road

Is there any issues with these cars? I have test drove so many this week that I'm tired of dealerships. So far this car has been the best to drive.

Anyone having issues with the engine such as cooling, or smoking? Been researching and haven't seen many complaints about it but a few odd ones.

2017+ seem to be largely trouble-free. No real issues. There was a cooling issue on 14s and 15s, but Ford fixed the issue with a revised head I believe.
The trans is great, some (most) drain and fill the trans oil with something better and with 2 liters, as it is theorized that they are slightly underfilled from the factory.

Thats a great price. To give you perspective I got my 2018 Orange Spice ordered with the Recaros and Ebony wheels for $19678 before tax and lic.
Now tax and lic vary by state but if you subtracted $1795 dealer cost on the Recaros and $365 dealer cost on the wheels $565 dealer cost paint. It would have been $16,953 with the Ebony wheels like the car above. $17,300. So you are right in the ballpark. Except like others have said and I agree get the Recaros, they make the car that much nicer.
Even at just below 20k before tax and lic the cars are a steal.

Could still be the traction control because I failed to mention that there are 3 levels of traction control. fully on is always the default when starting the car.
sport mode is partial traction control if you momentarily press the ESC button and fully off is pressing and holding the ESC button until it tells you its completely off.

Either way just buy it. I highly doubt you will find a car with as many smiles per mile than the Fiesta ST.

The motor and Transmission are solid, there are a couple of little things that might pop up like the climate control issues but nothing major.

And once the MOD bug bites look out that's when the real fun starts.

As already said the boost is cut in first gear- and the car is geared almost too low in first gear too. It's my one and only one complaint with the car. If you rev to "normal" 3K in first, then shift to second you are only going 15 MPH when you shift to second. By then the people behind you with their big automatics are almost ramming you. You are probably experiencing this to some degree. Second and especially third, fourth and fifth the car pulls great- even stock.

The Maintenance/Issues forum has a Sticky poll about the blend door actuator problem. 260 votes as of today. About 30% of 2014-16 owners are reporting the problem. Only 6% of 2017 owners are reporting the problem at this point. It is unclear if Ford actually fixed the problem, or the 2017 owners simply haven't experienced it yet.

It's a relatively minor issue, and there's a video on YouTube showing how to fix it in 15 minutes for a total cost of less than $20. If it's not covered by warranty and you take it to the dealer, it could cost $200 or more to fix. And judging by the thread, the noise is annoying enough that you cannot simply ignore it. The bad news is that the replacement part is likely to eventually fail as well.

Everytime you turn off and restart the car, it resets the blend door to another setting. I cringe every time I hear it moving back to my setting. Unnecessary wear and tear, imo.

Blend doors are constantly receiving minor adjustments when the HVAC is set on anything other than Hi/Lo.

Prior car with manually actuated blend doors taught me what stresses them.

Operating the blend doors required increased force when the blower motor was set for max speed. So I turn the blower down (if up) prior to ignition off.

Operating the blend doors required a lot of force, almost to the point of breaking the levers behind the dash when attempt to operate them with high negative cabin pressures. (highway speeds with windows cracked open)

Personally, I'm not particularly sensitive to temperatures as I'm usually on a motorcycle and simply (over) dress for the weather. I love heat so it's almost always on a "Hi" temperature setting. When I do make my adjustments on the vent settings, changing from floor to defrost for example, I keep the blower motor speeds at roughly 50% or below. Once it's done making the change, I'll up the blower motor speed as desired. I also avoid changing vent/temp settings at highway speeds (70+MPH) while the windows are open.

Frigid temperatures also stress them. So when I first start the car, I try to give it a dozen seconds or so before hitting max defrost... then *immediately* crank down the blower motor speed. After it slloowwllyy moves into position (you can hear all this,) I then put the blower motor speed back to max.

Given prior experiences I don't anticipate experiencing any issues with it for a very long time if ever. If I just treat it as normal and leave it on 75°F and adjust under any circumstance, (in other words, use as intended,) then I'd expect the kind of failures that I've been reading about.
