Better to be wide and heavy or light and narrow

is 17x7 better if it is lighter than 17x8 cuz cant seem to find 17x8 wheels to pull the trigger on

What are your goals? Track? AutoX? Drag? Street Cruiser? It'll depend on that. Wide wheels + Wide tires = more grip. Narrow wheels + Narrower tires = moar fast, plus more rotation.

Well majority daily driving, canyon driving, an occasional track day hard to do anything with football and school in college

I am always a fan that lighter is better as long as good wheels are used.
