The factory fill is DOT 4 LV, but many have used regular DOT 4 fluids, and DOT 4 racing fluids, especially if they live in hot climates, and/or open track, do hard 'canyon runs', etc. with their rides.

Some claim that one needs the LV fluid in order for all of the various 'nannies' (ABS, ESC, TC, TVS) to function properly on our platform (if that is critical to you), but I do not know if this was ever empirically confirmed or not.

I may go to a higher temp DOT 4 (like Ate Type 200) or a DOT 4 racing (like Endless 650 or the like) just to try and stave off the dreaded clutch pedal sticking to the floor syndrome next summer (since it only ever happens to my slave cylinder in the heat).
