Crankshaft position sensor failling

Hi everyone,

I had a quick look on the first pages of the thread but couldn't find any post that specifically addressed my problem. If the question has already been asked I'd be happy to be redirected to the correct thread. ;)

I have a problem with the crankshaft position sensor. In fact, when the car reaches a certain temperature (without overheating) it tends to jerk at low revs. The classic situation: I'm in traffic with the air conditioning on, and when the traffic starts there's a little hesitation from the engine before I can drive at a constant speed. But just a little misfire and then it's off again. The worst thing is that if the traffic jam situation continues, at some point the repair light (the little wrench) comes on and the turbo stops working, because I can hear the air hissing out of the valve (quite noisy in my case, by the way, but I'll do another post on that).

I took the car to the garage, and they changed my fuel pump and of course the crankshaft sensor. At first I thought my problem was gone, but now, not even 3 months after changing the part, the same worries are coming back and I'm afraid that in January/February I'll have to buy another one . Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem permanently? I'm not the first owner of my FIST and I have no idea what changes those before me have made to the car.

Thanks in advance :giggle:

No solution found yet. I've stopped using my AC and I tend to cut the engine in traffic. I have the impression that there's a problem of overheating somewhere. My mechanic is encouraging me to replace my radiator, but I'm thinking there must be another solution, especially as I only use the car for everyday journeys and never really push the accelerator.

Not sure which it could've been, but I found out my manifold bolts were loose causing a major exhaust leak, I replaced those studs and bolts, but also put a new wiring harness in my car too, and so far no issues at all!

Did you find a solution? Is it possible that after replacing the sensor a relearn procedure needed to be completed?

There is a relearn that has to be completed with forscan. In my situation I think I had a crimped wire somewhere, or an exposed wire grounding out. I could've went through and found it but in my personal case it was easier to just get a used wiring harness and re do the whole thing. Haven't had the issue since!

Mine is in the shop for misfires after transmission replacement. Hunting the Net for related issues and solutions. Found this thread. Thank you. I hope the cause for my breakdown is simple.
