buzzing, whining, clicking, clacking each randomly, but always one or the other if Im turning. Also, its only noticeable under like 5 or 10 mph. Parking lots get attention....
The clicks and clack sound like a bad CV joint, the buzzing and whirring are more like a loud creaking door or something.

Also, its pretty quiet under decel since it is 1-way, so you can kind of go fast straight, then lift and turn, to keep it a bit quieter. Still a little buzz though, but no clicks.

The factory standard T-1 Torsen which came in the 4th gen LS1 f bodies was notorious for that 'rocks in a box' sound on decel, but that was a worm gear type diff, just like the more 'street' ones for our ride. [wink]

ah interesting, why 1 way instead of 1.5?
why also the gripper over the cusco other than cost?
curious which model of the gripper lsd did you get, think there is street, track, race.

yes definitely know what you mean by lack of traction in 2nd on the slower corners, something I miss having from an awd car.
have hopes also I don't need to shift the 2nd as often if thats even possible.

will also be curious if you getting more power with the hybrid turbo and how the lsd holds up then.
apologies for all the questions and thank you for the great info! you have me intrigued to replace my wavetrac lsd with a gripper.

Kind of guessed on 1 vs 1.5. Reading suggests 1 way will not hurt corner entry, while 1.5 way can. I figured that I did not want to risk changing entry, as nowhere seemed to say 1.5 was better there. So we went with the 1 way.

Cusco vs Gripper purely cost.

Anyone know a good place to get a 4x100 drill template? I have ordered on from "Alexthemachinist" but there is no response from them as to when it will be ready. Ordered a month ago.
I think we talked when I was selling the one that I had for sale from him. Ya sorry it’s sold but ya I warned you about that its exactly what I went through.

yup on the template. I gave up and had Aero-Machine company just CNC redrill a pair of hubs. Those worked out great, so screw those templates! I was able to paypal dispute with them and did get my money back at least.

Getting ready to inprve the car further. One issue was brake cooling. We made some funnels for the fog light holes on the 3D printer and ran them to the back of the brakes with 3" hose. Hopefully get our temps down from ~1500F... Had to remove factort washer bottle and replace with a small 1L tank for our intercooler sprayer.
Also made a front air dam to help with drag and lift a little. Not pretty, but hopefully effective.

Latest NASA TT5 event was at Chuckwalla Raceway CW 2/19-2/20. We came away with a win on both days. I drove and won Saturday, and my son won on Sunday. We were both new to the track, but the car was super fast and worked really well with the Gripper diff and S280 kit. We laid down a best of 2:00.94, only 1 second off of the TT5 lap recrord.
The new NASA rules for TT5 allowed us to gain almost 30hp from last year, and the S280 kit and Stratified tune did wonders for power. The car was great. We also started using the Wilwood BP-30 compound pads, and they last way longer than anything we have tried from Hawk or even Carbotech. We did crack a rotor which is an issue we will need to come up with a solution for though. We are getting brake temps up to 1500F in the front. Working on some new brake duct designs....and trying to figure out how to maybe fit larger rotors with the help of Fastbrakes.com....
Not too much new to say otherwise. Car was fast, plate diff is the best thing ever, and S280 is a great turbo kit and Stratified tunes are awesome.

Brake temps.....That is currently the weakest point of the car. The brakes work at all times, but we are cracking rotors fairly fast. Temp paint shows us hitting 1500+. So we are working wth Fastbrakes to fit some wider rotors with more mass, and we are trying to make more efficient ducts for the fog light locations. We are pretty happy with the latest version and will try them at the track next time. The first version did function better than our under-car valences ducts, but still arent large enough to move enough air. We are trying to make the entire "fog light recess area" into part of the collector with the latest revision. See pictures for details. The 4 collectors in the image on the table are ones we were not happy with for one reason or another. These are 3D printed with PETG and connect to 3" duct hose.

Thats funny, but we did actually talk about adding a nozzle from the intercooler sprayer into the brake ducts. It was decided that there may be too much thermal shock on the rotors. Keeping 15" wheels is the hardest limiting factor to work around here.

Yes, I took for granted that the above was a no go, due to the exact reasons you've stated.

What I was jokingly suggesting was actual water circulating through the calipers, with a dedicated pump, tank, and cooler, a la the big buck factory WEC/AMLS/DTM/etc. road race cars use.

Thanks, but unfortunately no. They have an inlet only the size of the fog light, no collector that I can tell, and only 2.5" hose. At least thats my thought on them. I feel like ours are much better, just less refined, and WAY cheaper.

I doubt i would share the .stl, certainly not before we test them. I would print you a pair and send them to you for roughly the cost of the plastic and shipping. Any of the versions you like. FYI though, to use the driver's side ducts, the washer bottle needs to be removed or modified. I don't see any other way to pass a 3" house through that area.
