Maps option?

Hey all!

I have a Sync 3 system with (I think 7") touchscreen display.
I want a maps option on that screen. Preferably free.
I tried following the guide to have maps on my phone display on my screen, but it doesn't work.

What other options are there?
If there's a one time fee for Ford maps, and it's not too expensive, I might buy it.
But no annual license fees pls.

Thanks!

You have a screen without nav?

I'm pretty sure the car can open certain apps.... I'm interested as well.

Bump for learnering.

Is this on your phone, or on the dash display?

I haven't been able to transfer Google maps to the dash display yet...

Oh, ok.
I get it.
Bluetooth won't work.
Thanks, I'll try plugging in my phone rather than trying over Bluetooth!

Apple carplay is going to support Google maps too for those with iphones. I don't know when, I haven't tried it recently.

I haven't installed many apps yet, however, the only 2 apps that I installed, that did work, were Ford+Alexa, and AccuWeather.
Maps is not working on my phone.

I wonder if I am doing something wrong?

What version or sync 3 do you have? I would recommend updating to the lastest version which is 3.0

The extended version number I think is what he meant, there should be more numbers after the decimal point.

Also make sure your device is updated, and try the Waze app instead just to test. Use usb not Bluetooth, in fact turn of phone Bluetooth for testing.

Install Android auto app on phone, plug phone into USB port, sync will load up with Android auto, Maps will be on the left. Make sure Android auto is enabled on sync . Very easy.

On mine, the USB port is located inside the center armrest. Is that the same port that you guys are using?

Once you install Android Auto on your phone, just plug it in via USB and it will walk you through it on your dash. I think it will even ask you if you want to enable it. Android Auto only works when your phone is plugged in via USB. I think the whole point is to get us to stop using our phones while driving. When using Android Auto, our phone used to be just about locked out. With the latest update you can get to normal phone functions by swiping up on the Android Auto home screen.

Android auto on, and maps on, allow me to see the maps on my cellphone, but not on the screen.
GPS audio isn't even played back on my sound system.
But it could have been, because my bluetooth was still enabled.

I'll see if I can make some time next week to play around with it a bit.
I really wish to see my maps on the little dashboard screen!

What year is your car? You don't need to turn off Bluetooth or unpair your phone.
