While changing the oil the other day I noticed a leak. I normally do not get alarmed by small leaks that do not leave puddles, so I wiped it clean assuming it was just my transmission fluid seeping out a bit, or even a mess I made at some point... After i thought about it for a bit I realized this fluid was clear, clear like brake fluid, so not transmission fluid. The only logical conclusion in my head is the slave cylinder is leaking. The fluid was coming from where the case splits, back near the rear motor mount. No fluid present last oil change, and several drops and a greasy wet spot/film on the case and RMM this time. It was maybe a 6k mile oil change interval. Can the slave even leak like this, out of the transmission case?
If it is a slave cylinder am I looking at catastrophic blow out soon? Thoughts on if the RMM caused extra stress/vibrartions to cause it? My roommate had to move my car the other day when I wasn't home and stalled it 5-6 times trying to do so, could that have been it?
I've never had a manual tranny before, but I've seen a slave cylinder fail on a friends truck before...
