I've always wanted a quick hatchback since I got hooked on rally races playing Gran Turismo 3 in middle school, but never had the funding to be able to pursue it. Recently, however, I came into a group of friends who are pretty heavy into car modding: My buddy J has his WRX, E has her Speed 3, and D has his Velo Turbo, so riding around with them, I've been really itching to get into the community, and finally will have the money needed for it.

Been doing some research into what type of car to get, and after watching a review of some different manufacturers, I came across the FiST. The line that got my attention was when he was comparing the Focus to the Fiesta, "...the Fiesta makes you want to grab it by the scruff and make it show you the curves." And that's exactly what I'm looking for in a car.

Please let me know if you have any advice or starting points for someone looking to settle into the ST/modding community, what I should expect in terms of initial upgrades/mods/etc, or if I'm here by mistake.

I'm tired of pretending to be quick in my dual-clutch Veloster.

Welcome aboard! I am also fairly (very) new to the FIST community... so a few things I've notice about the FIST, both what it is and what it isn't....

It isn't easy to extract power, bolt ons seems to only get your wheel hp to the rated crank hp with overboost... so around 200 +20 -0 seems like the typical range... dyno dependant... stock turbo is small... the good thing is that aftermarket support seems to be pouring in with bigger turbos...

It isn't spacious like a subbie hatch.. or any hatch.. its just in a shape of an hatch... lol

It isn't fast.. it feels fast.. it isn't.

It isn't the car that ooze quality.. i have had more trims rattle and creek/lift that all cars i've owned combined.

It isn't perfect from the factory... you'd need.. at least a RMM before you can drive this thing like you mean it.. unless heavy clunking doesnt bother you... then some form of tune.... to you know... bring things up a bit.

It isn't well laid out... interior.. shifter is too low, seating is too high, gas and brake pedals are just like automatics where they have a huge height difference...

It isn't comfortable on local roads.. and some highways... because every speck of dust on the floor is felt in the form of a jolt.... seriously I've found rough roads on roads that I drive on every day... for over 10 years....!

Well I think that covers about most of it.. someone can add to it....

but what it is....!!!

It is one of the most fun car's I've ever driven from the factory.

It, surprisingly, is very comfortable on road trips, I don't get my typical stiff legs... (I do have the recaros).

It handles very well and is extremely playful... I've owned... uh.. everything I've owned besides my 94 corolla was faster than this car, and this car "feels" super fast... that is until you look at your speedo and you are doing 45 in a 50 zone.

You know what they say!! its much more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.. and this car is the gold standard to that, and anyone that says this car isn't fun or as fun as car (X, where X = BRZ and siblings) should not talk to me because... this car is just as fun if not funner than the BRZ stock for stock.

It does have a rally chassis and a race engine!!! way cool.. not sure about the tranny though, some people have had issues with theirs... (knocking on every wood i see).

if anything is missing, I think others can chime in to fill it up!!

You will only see around 210 whp with the stock turbo and full bolt ons. If you want any kind of serious power with the fiesta you need to upgrade the turbo. There are a few options for big turbo (up to 400whp) and there's the more affordable hybrid turbos which will put you in the 250whp range on a dyno.

Doing an e30 mix (30% ethanol, 70% pump gas) also yields pretty good gains in the fiesta.

Upgrade the rear motor mount and intercooler, buy a Cobb accessport first, and don't bother with an intake. Hope that helps

Regarding OP's request for mod ideas:

Short Shift Kit is a must have in my opinion. Cheap and very simple DIY as well.

The OEM wheels are not super heavy, but for me 16" lightweight wheels are an improvement in all ways aside from aesthetics (saved just over 16 lbs). Any other weight saving mods will provide incremental performance benefits as well (for example I got an OEM aluminum mini spare tire to save ~17 lbs)

Wow. Tough critics.

Fast depends on your definition. Will it accelerate at the same pace of faster than most cars? Yes
Will it accelerate as fast as past years sports cars? Yes it will with basic tune to get you full boost first few gears and a 13 sec 1320.
Will it accelerate faster than today's sports cars? No. But it will handle and brake as well if not better than they do!

If you want to go fast buy a used 11 mustang 5.0/blower and you have a 10/11 sec machine. If you want to drive a car that is simply a blast to drive get the FIST. Even race car drivers rave about it on track.

you may not keep up with you buddies, but you'll be having more fun. It's been said that this car can be driven on the roads as fast as anything made. That is it may not have the acceration/power of "faster" cars, but it will corner with nearly anything out there. Handling and response is what it gives you.
