This is drained out of my trans after one weekend on track. Its extremely brown. Doesn’t smell completely cooked but it sure doesn’t look great. IMG_4357.jpeg IMG_4356.jpeg

There will always be residual left over from the last Gear oil change also BTW* Unless you physically flush the entire Trans out.

Yeah there were a few flakes, nothing to be concerned with from that stand point.

The Ford fluid I was running up to this point looked much better after three hotter than hell summer weekends and a couple of years of street driving. (I took pics, but must have deleted them)

I couldn't really tell much difference in shifting after swapping, but there was a lot going on that shifting wasn't high on the list of concerns.

It was MTF2.

You weren't using the Ford factory fill DCT fluid, were you?!?!

I am taking for granted that you mean their (Motorcraft's) manual transmission grade fluid (XTM5QS, similar to the MTF-2 Ravenol, and NOT the Motorcraft XT11QDC which IS the factory fill), correct?

I was using the Ferd CVT fluid from day one. I thought it was the XT fluid. If not I think I used the XT fluid like the older Foci used.

90% certain that is what I was using.

I pulled the trans apart tonight and found bad things. Will post pics.

Maybe the thin factory DCT stuff is much more stout (as far as shear and protection goes) than I, or anyone else, gives it credit for? [dunno]

I guess it has to be fairly decent since most Ford dealers quite laughably consider it a 'lifetime fill'. [histerical]
(Even though Ford does say to change it out at a ridiculously too late, 150K mile interval.)

Your ominous post about finding bad things out aside, the color of that fluid would not bother me at all. In my experience, good synthetic oils darken very quickly, and color is not a good indicator of life.

Yes after my findings, the fluid was far from the problem. I think its probably alright and will use it again once I fix the problem with the 3/4. I will add the details in my build thread.
