Repost: Upgrading your Sync 3 (2016+) Fiesta ST to use the 3.4.xxxx version of Sync software!

So I tried using Ford's update via my vin number. I'm was on version 1.1.1.797 its a version from like 2020. I downloaded the file on Fords website left my car running for about 2 hours, it said it updated but the version is blank. And nothing changed on my screen. But on the site it says I'm on 2.2.1680 do I have to download this now ? And update it again?

Something seems off. When I do a search for "1.1.1.797", I only get results back for a gracenote version and not sync version.

Can you take a pic of the sync version in your car?

So I redownloaded the update from Ford this morning when I started my car plugged the USB in and I got a sync 3 3.0 update maybe I have to update 1 update at a time? Erase the USB download a newer update from Ford, install that. Then erase the USB, install another update from the website and install it in my car? I'm at work rn so lunch time I'm going to download another update via USB hopefully it works

I updated it and it had a blank gracenote version, later that day/ this morning I did a master reset and redownloaded the update from Ford and it said it's now sync 3 version 3.0 gracenote 1.1.1.1130 (gl-0011). In an hour I'm going to try to update again so I'll edit with an update

So just to clear things up, your sync version is the X's in "Software Version: X.X" combined with "Build XXXXX_PRODUCT"

E.g. in one of your pictures, you were on "Software Version: 3.0 Build 20204_PRODUCT" -- this is 3.0.20204

Now if you want to update to 3.4.xxxxx, you'd have to use cyanlabs and NOT go through ford's website. Our cars don't officially support 3.4.xxxxx, but I (and others) run it without any issue.

Has anyone had issue getting the map to load after upgrading? Tried connecting it to wifi but nothing yet.
disregard. It cleared itself up. Got hungry and turned it off and went inside. came out with a older map version and it was working fine.

No I upgraded from sync 2.2 to sync 3.0. I had a gracenote but when I restarted my car the gracenote went blank but it says I'm on sync 3.0. I'm not longer on 2.0 from 2020.

Make sure you have the grace note slider green on the last screen, where you hit start on.

Side note, if you load 3.4 and have it connected to wifi it will downgrade it self by it self. Can out to 3.3 this morning.

Also I used a 128g usb and it worked fine.
