It is a high price, but 500$ is a crazy low ball number.
Really? My turbo has about 20k miles on it. It has seen 28 to 34 psi it's entire life. Just like all these used factory tuned and aftermarket turbos. I would never install it on another car, or reinstall on my car next time it comes off without an oem distributor rebuild. Do the math and tell me what a used journal bearing turbo is worth???

That is completely irrelevant. And with normal care and the oil restrictor in place, a bb turbo shouldn't really wear out in any reasonable space of time.

Price a high quality rebuild with an OEM level balance, not all balancing is equal. A lot of places don't have the capability to spin it up to true operating speeds.

Btw, the s280 also lives a harder life than most. It's still operating at less than ideal emap:imap.
