sync update killed my radio

yep, just bought the car decided to see if i needed an update. i did. so i started the process and this is what i get and no more radio. now what?

Did you have a flash drive plugged in with update data?

I figured it out. It was because I used an sd card instead of a thumb drive. But now I'm trying to figure out what's so great about the update.
