Taillight Options?

Has anyone done anything with their taillights? I keep looking at mine and how they stand out so much on a white/black car, something needs to be done with them. I'm thinking about either tinting the red part (the 70% of the "light" that doesn't light up and is completely useless) and leaving the portion that lights up as-is, OR getting some vinyl that would match the car's paint.

Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions, or pics of their setups?

I have an MO, and I feel that the red of the taillights is a little too close to the color of the body, it would be great to have the red be a shade or two darker to contrast better with the body. I'm also interested in the ST200 euro LED tails, but I hear they are not plug and play. What have people done with taillight appearance?

Where did you here they are not compatible? Been researching them and have put them in my future cosmetic mods

BlueBomber has done some research on the subject, Here's what I found with a quick search:

So, I've verified that UKDM Fiesta ST Tail lights do physically fit on USDM models if you remove the center stud (easily done by just twisting it out, no need to break anything), they will work for headlights on/headlights off/brakes but will not do "brakes" and "parking lights" at the same time. If the UKDM tails were converted to a different adapter, I believe they would actually work...

I am a dummy and forgot to take before and after pics. It is kind of hard to tell from the pics, since the taillights are mostly red. I was trying to find a picture online of a black ST with no tint on the taillights to have a comparison for you, but I can't find any good ones. I also tinted my headlights and fog lights, which I have included pictures of. I didn't want to go too dark. I've seen a lot of people do a charcoal or stealth tint, and to me, that's just way too dark. It does look really sharp in person though.

The taillight tint also came with tint for the reflectors, so those are slightly darker as well.

Yup, that works. So those are taillight covers? Like a plastic shell that goes over the existing lights?

It's just like window tint. A thin film/laminate that goes right over the lights. Lamin-X sells pre-cut tint (which is what I got). It is really tricky to apply. It takes time and patience. I would recommend having 2 people do it. I had my friend help me out. The first one (we started with the headlights) took us a while to get just right. After that, it was a breeze. The trick is to keep spraying water on it and heating it with the blow dryer to stretch the film. Start with one corner at a time. We watched this video on YouTube to help us out. It is for a Focus ST, but it's essentially the same install.

So I bought some ebay tail lights that are supposed to fit the UKDM fiesta. I had to mess with the wiring but I got them to work 100%.

I've seen these during some internet searches in the past. I was curious. What did you have to do with your wiring? Looks great on a black ST. Night pics please! Would love to see a pic where you can see tails and headlights illuminated...

I was going to do a write up at some point, but basically I removed one piece on the back:

And then removed the wiring pins from the plug around to match the usdm wiring:

Remove the white piece from the plug that holds the pins in place

Push the pins out from front to back:

Rewired for usdm:
