Nice forum, lots of good information here and I hope to contribute as well once I actually do something interesting with the car. I picked up my used 2014 Oxford White FiST back in early October. Had been interested in one for a while and I was actually looking at new 2016's but there were none around in white at all. While debating on other cars (Golf GTI 6spd) or waiting for a 2017 I stumbled across this one at a dealer close to my office. He let me take it home over night and I was hooked, bought it the next day. Only had 40,000km, saved more than $12,000 over new so I also extended the factory warranty. Feel like it was a good choice because it was in as-new shape, loaded and I wouldn't have bothered with navigation or a moon roof buying new. Also came with Michelin winter tires and steel rims which I would have needed to get right away.
Loving the car so far, it's got fantastic handling and decent power for it's weight. It's been a big switch coming from my MK4 Golf 2.slow. I've always been more into motorcycles so the FiST is my first "fast" car. That's probably why my mods will be a slow process as my bike kinda gets spoiled.
My plan is to pick up some stuff over the winter then install it when warmer weather hits. Right now I'm looking at getting:
- oil catch can
- upgraded rear motor mount
- upgraded brake pads
- coilovers or just springs
- OZ Ultraleggera 16x7 wheels with some sticky rubber
Tempted to get some sort of stage 1 tune but will probably wait until later next year. Not sure what to get for the springs or coilovers. Would like the car a little lower but not much stiffer, just good for fun back road use. If anybody can recommend good coilovers/springs or point me in a general direction that would be great help.
Cheers!
