Yea, I was looking into the same issues ppl have. I can hear a slight whine in 6th gear at 2.5+k rpm and sometimes in lower gears. I am trying to see if its worth losing my car for a day or waiting until my next oil change.

Some dealers offer free loaners if your vehicle is kept over night. Give your dealer a call.

Mine still has this issue. Its much worse now. I've talked to a few people and they've suggested that it may be the Syncros.

I'd be willing to bet the sound you are hearing when disengaging and engaging the clutch it just the dual mass flywheel. Our flywheels are 2 piece vs. the typical solid plate flywheel so when the clutch engages and disengages you will hear the inner section of the flywheel make noise as the inner and outer portions of the flywheel connect. My old SVT Focus has the same style flywheel and was the first car I'd had with that type of flywheel so it bothered me to hear the noise. Smoother shifting and not completely lifting off the throttle during shifts will keep it from making that noise. Basically, if you hear it, you're not shifting as smooth as you could be.

Did you ever take it in for service? I would and I'm glad I did, they had a new tranny installed the same day I dropped it off by 4 o'clock. Mines been good since.

I'm taking mine in on Tuesday but this is just to get someone to listen to it. Who knows if they'll just fix or replace the transmission...

I went to the dealer and they confirmed by the sound that it needs fixing and is not normal. The tech that I took on the ride said it sounds like "ring and pinion" problems.

I take it back for service on 7/30.

Did you ever get this resolved? Your video of the shift between 1st and 2nd (with the clunk) is exactly what my 2015 FiST is doing. I spoke to the dealer and they mentioned the RMM TSB but I'm not so sure that sound is being caused by engine movement. Also, when it's warm out and I'm just starting up the car when the engine is cold, the clutch has started acting squishy and has almost the same sensation as rubbing a wet finger over a piece of rubber coming through the pedal when I press and release it.

What does the TSB on the RMM state?

So the FiST went into the dealer today. Tech says he's never heard the sound that my transmission is making and that he doesn't think it has anything to do with the RMM. Not only that, he said the 2015 models should've already had the correction that the RMM TSB addresses. His plan is to take another brand new 2015 from the lot out tomorrow to see if it's making any sounds resembling what mine is. If not, he's going to contact Ford's engineering team to ask what to do next.

Keep us posted. Sounds like you found a smart tech willing to go the distance.

Welcome to the forum, ch47dmechanic!

I'll be happy to check into some options on this. Just PM me your VIN, mileage, best daytime phone number, full name, and dealer name/location. :)

My dealer is working with engineering at this point. Thanks, though.

So I just got off the phone with the dealer. The tech had the car for a couple of days and went through a bunch of tests with engineering and have now determined that it's just a characteristic sound of the transmission with the ST and that there's nothing wrong with it. I guess I'll just have to get used to it. [xx(]

Go to another dealer. My replacement transmission is silent. The old one whined in gear under light load and was worse in gears 3-6.
