Skip the Gtx2860r, old ass ancient tech.

G25 550 has the most top end out of all the conventional turbo kits but it's also the laggiest. The S290 has a similar top end but it spools significantly sooner.

If you're looking for top end that doesn't tapper off at all...S290 is a great choice.

The G25 550 is slightly too much turbo for this car really unless you can spin more rpms. You would need a bigger cam, ported head and intake to justify running it.

Here's a graph of the powerband
Red G25 550
Yellow S290
Blue S280

As you can see, the G25 550 has an unacceptable torque dip, it's just too much. The S290 remains flat till the end.

Team NDR used to run the G25 550, when they switched to the S290 they actually got faster because it spools 1000 rpms sooner than the G25 550.
People need to do research instead of just running off of dogmatic opinion of from the cult following of the S280.

I plan on buying it soon myself.
Hope this helps.
I like the looks of the power band on the s290. Idk why people hate on it. Do they have reliability problems?

Not that I know of. I think people generally say why bother because the s280 can get you more power than most people will push with a stock engine.

Just lack of research really. They seem reliable from what I've seen.

Keep in mind that the S280 torque falls off once it reaches redline where as the S290 torque keeps chugging into redline

Line up these 2 at a 60 roll and you'll see a noticeable difference in top end, freight train effect.

MO15Fiesta was running an S290, but he kind of fell off the map. He did great things with the S280 and moved up to the S290. He did some passes that looked promising then that was the last I heard from his adventures with the S290. That was 2023 I think.

What map did he fall off of exactly?

The S290 setup makes 420whp and has made literally hundreds of low 11 sec passes at the track in the 2+ years of it being installed
It's by far the quickest and fastest proven setup out of all the options mentioned here with unlimited backup with timeslips, dyno, and even verified dragy runs

wonder what the s290 can get power wise with 91 pump gas. that's probably the biggest limitation with s280
91 and 93 are knock limited, not turbo. Pretty much every aftermarket turbo for this car, aside from small hybrids, is going to make 275-300whp depending on how aggressive the tuner is and what dyno you’re using.

The Fiesta ST Map from what I can tell. He hasn't posted in quite some time and no new content (that I've seen). I figured he moved away from the platform. I would love to see some draggy runs with it (S290). Just you don't hear much about it.

I think he’s just been on the fb pages instead of the forums. I believe he still has the same setup.
