How'd the tune turn out?
I haven’t been on here much but tunes have been done. On the EMS I noticed a little more power on the top end on 91, but I am at 27 PSI compared to 25 with Tune+. Both VDyno logs put 91 at 270 whp. Also taking off in 1st gear the throttle response isn’t as responsive on EMS. We ended up doing E30 and it’s making 290HP. Adam’s tune is around 305. I ended up sticking with Tune+

Yeah I would think the tune that made power or the same power with less boost to be the better tune. On another note this forum has been kind of dead with people pushing the platform.Think I came late to the FiST party.

Adam’s tune is smoother all around. I like that he asked for logs of 0-60, normal driving, it feels more fine tuned. Both are great. I will tune both when I get a HPFP and compare again.

He just finished a HPFP tune for me on E50. I never had to do any 0-60 logs or drivability logs. No complaints in those ares though. Drivability is great. Even makes very useable torque down low almost like stock turbo.

I feel for you Cali boys. 93 to me feels downright anemic. Ive been on E30 since a month after getting the car couple years back. When I was getting a CEL for the evap I would reset the code which put me back on the 93 tune. After rolling on the gas I’d be like wtf? Then realize it was on the 93 map. Lol. 284 on 91 is stout tho and plenty if you've never experienced the “E”

I ran E30 on that setup it was nuts . very close to if not 300whp on vydno and 340ft lbs of TQ. Only reason I went back to pump was TQ steer was real.

Just a little data for those that come here via search, I had crazy spark blowout/no code misfires.

I was certain the coils were weak. Brand new ruthenium plugs gapped to .025”

Car purrs and pulls clean with the gap at 0.020”. I’m at sea level, bigger injectors, and Canadian fuel. Our fuel is highly regulated compared to down south. It’s super clean and I frequently have crap fuel in Washington/Oregon

I did a whoosh cold-side charge pipe, crossover pipe, and the V2 RAM Intake; now my boost is 3-6 PSI over my original tune which are over the recommended safe boost levels. Do I need to re-tune with the upgrades? I have been babying this thing while waiting anxiously for the tuners to respond. Lowest HP tuner is 380 whp and highest is 420 whp on e50 but I am afraid it is a ticking time bomb at this point with boost in the 30-36 psi. Previously 350 and 375 on 26-30 PSI. New tires (Continental EC) are not helping neither as I can't even datalog in 4th gear, missing those re71rs badly.

You should most definitely update the tune. Were they stock components that you replaced? That seems like an unrealistically large jump for the upgrades, IMO.

OK - reviving this thread! I am in the midst of an “OEM+” fiesta build on my 2017 fiesta with 26k miles. The car has spent most of its life unmodified, but is currently running an e30 tune, panel filter, whoosh boost hose, whoosh v3 FMIC and some suspension bits.

I’m trying to create the car I believe ford would have if they released a Fiesta RS. For that, I think 280-300 whp with a nice mid-high powerband fits the bill perfectly. After lots of research, the S280 seems like a no brainer and the safest way to reach those power levels without excess heat, crazy wheel spinning low-RPM torque, etc.

I want to build this the right way - a platform to generate 280-300whp as reliably as humanly possible. With that said, a few questions:

- Downpipe: should I be upgrading to a 200 cell cat? I’d love to keep the stock cat in place if possible for the environment. And just to keep things simple. But if the sport cat will making a big difference I’d like to know. I definitely don’t want to go catless.
- Fueling: I have seen conflicting views on the use of uprated injectors without a bigger HPFP. Dizzy’s article suggests it leads to dangerously low fuel rail pressure, while another tuner highly recommended them. Is it somewhat silly to choose a higher RPM turbo like the S280 while leaving the stock fuel system intact?
- Ancillaries: I plan to order a whoosh crossover pipe, TS 14 PSI wastegate, and potentially ST200 airbox along with the S280 kit. Is there anything else important that I’m leaving out? Has anyone had success with turbo blankets? I’ve read the heat shield is a pain to reinstall.
-Install: should I be ordering a new turbo oil feed line? I know it’s viewed as best practice. Anything else I should order to support a smooth installation process?

thanks!!

I don’t think there’s a ton of data out there on stock downpipe vs a high flow cat, but if you’ve ever seen it removed you’ll notice there is a massive restriction where it narrows down to something like 1.75” diameter. If you have emissions concerns, get the Cobb GESI downpipe which will flow better but is still a 400 cell converter.

I would never do injectors without the HPFP. I’ve done both plus the in tank fuel pump. I’m sure I know which tuner you’re referencing who is, in my controversial opinion, a complete bozo who just wants to sell more parts. Ask Westley at EMS or Randy at Tuneworks their thoughts, they’re the two wizards on this platform whose guidance I would trust the most.

You don’t need the crossover but it won’t hurt anything to do upgrade it. New air box is a must whether st200 or other. Turbo smart wastegate is a win as well and I would suggest doing the turbosmart BPV that eliminates the silly cast adapter in the s280 kit which uses a stock style BPV.

Turbo blankets definitely work but I wouldn’t personally run one without an under tray to keep water out. Our turbos get soaked in the rain.

It is best practice to replace the oil feed, but very few actually do and don’t have any problems. Happy medium probably would be to replace the crush washers.

Extremely helpful!!! I neglected to mention that I have a GFV DV+ recirculating valve sitting on my desk. Will this suffice or do you recommend going with a more traditional blow off valve? I’m trying to keep things somewhat subtle with this build, hence the DV+

ironically, Randy is the one who recommended injectors but not HPFP. It’s the one ancillary he suggested picking up at the same time as the s280 kit. I hear amazing things about Randy.

If Randy is making it work then I’d say you’re probably fine. The DV+ is totally fine I’m just anal and hate the cast block adapter in the s280 kit. This one is recirculated and doesn’t make any noise but eliminates the adapter and is a direct fit.
