@Woods247 Where have you been getting replacement rotor rings & pads for the Stoptech BBK? Mine are still good condition but I heard Stoptech is going out of business so I think I'm going to have to get replacements before I actually need them lol. I'm still on the rotors and pads the kit came with, they seem to last a good while even after a dozen track days. Fuckin pads almost look new.

Asked 2j and they said they actually have 2 of each rotor on the shelf so I might have to get 1 pair from them. They said the pads are discontinued but Carbotech can make padsets for them and they believe DTC as well.
I buy them from 2J. I usually pickup StopTech street performance pads from Amazon or eBay. I wasn’t aware StopTech was closing. I’ll do some research and find out who’s buying them and what the parts availability will be. They were owned by Centric if I remember correctly. Curious as to why they’re dissolving the brand. Lots of teams use them.

Definitely let me know what you find out. 2j also told me there is a discontinued note on those rotors on Stoptech. I haven't looked into it enough if they make those rotor rings aftermarket or not. Like I said, my rotors and pads have plenty of meat left but I randomly came upon something online about them shutting down, so now I'm trying to decide to get shit before its gone lol

I just saw a report that not only is Stop Tech closed, so are Centric and Raybestos. Fram, Autolite, Reese, and Michelin wiper blades and several other brands almost went away in the same bankruptcy. Apparently about 5-6 years ago they were acquired by a venture capital group called First Brands, Inc. which has been in Chapter 11 since its principals were were indicted on federal fraud charges last September. First Brands has been selling off its brands to try to raise the money it needs to pay off their debt, but when nobody stepped up for the brake brands, they closed them. So the parts sitting on shelves now are all there is. https://www.motor1.com/news/787179/stoptech-ceasing-operations/

Don't you love all those Ivy League MBAs out destroying the world?

That's an interesting and sad story, thanks for posting. It's disappointing when one of these firms buys a company and doesn't have any regard for the quality of the product that the company is making. They just want to squeeze the maximum amount of money out of it and in so doing sometimes destroy the company in the name of efficiency.

Well. I was wrong about one thing. The men who perpetrated the fraud at First Brands were not Ivy League MBAs though the one who masterminded it learned his craft at a mergers and acquisitions firm that was run by that kind of people. They were Indian brothers who grew up in Malaysia, went to college in Ohio.

WTF! I was able to score a spare set of rings from 2J but man, I use Stoptech slotted cryo rotors on everything. Hopefully they’ll have a rebirth soon under new ownership. If not, I’ll go back to Akebono on my trucks and use Akebono or Hawk pads.

RIP Mr Barber. Definitely a sad day for the moto and auto racing communities. What an incredible human that guy was.
