...I sold my (original owner) modded 2019 FiST with 55K on the odometer (no hybrid or big turbo swap or anything but plenty of other things) and bought a decent condition NA MX-5 and a beater?

I'd prefer a NB Miata. Hard to choose, the FiST is just a blast all the time. I haven't been in a Miata in years. Came close to picking up a ND back in 2016, but ended up that we needed a truck.

our original owner 97 NA miata sits in the garage next to my 2014 ST. it hardly gets driven tbh. Too hot in ATL most of the time to drive top down, but the days where it is nice, that car gets used for every opportunity. Its not as fun in some ways, but in many others, it is a blast. Rock solid and reliable, it never steals wrenching time from the other cars.

I have an NA Miata. It's fun and certainly handles well. But you just don't get to drive it as much. So I would say no. In fact, I find myself on facebook marketplace looking at Fiesta ST's and wondering if I should sell the Miata and get another Fiesta ST.

Thank you for all of your responses. Yeah...there aren't many more benefits to an MX-5 versus the FiST. The FiST is much quicker AND can handle really well which is the main benefit of the MX-5. I'm not a fan of convertibles, either. Not my style. I guess down the road when I have some extra cash I could grab one. They're still so reasonable.

I had a '90 Miata, bought new for $13,000 but what made me sell was a gearbox problem (an auto) and eventually the rear axle. Gearbox was not fixed properly by a company beginning with A, with missing bolts and wrong sized bolts installed. Sold it for $2,000 just to get rid and bought one of the first Ford Focus hatchbacks. Had no problem fitting in it. I'd bring the seat forward and recline the back, at 6'2" had no problems. More room than the Alfa convertible.

I've got a MG Midget, It's a 50 year old British roadster, so something is always broken. Currently no clutch, thinking either a broken line or a failed slave.
For those wanting the turbo power, there's always the NB Mazdaspeed. But, for me it'd be a regular NB or a ND2. Even in the Houston heat & humidity, top down all the time.
