That keyring is sweet, but I don't use them at all, since our remote fob is already way too bulky for my taste, and I use a minimalist shortened keychain for my house/other keys.

Fair call. It is about as small as you would want it keeping good detail and proportion, not huge by any means. It's a neat little piece to have around even if you didn't use it on your keys 🤣.

So it finally happened. Stage 2 remap!

After driving a few, spending hours and hours researching I made a choice and picked Revo for my stage 2 map. As you can see from my reaction in the video, I am pretty happy with my choice haha.

For everyone playing along in North America, your tunes don't work on our cars so no option for stratified, dizzy etc etc.

Not with Revo. Revo have Authorised dealers and they are the only ones who can upload the maps.

Some brands have a handset for you to upload maps, other have Blutooth USBs and you do it from your laptop.

The Mountune handset I have is a rebranded Cobb AP although has less gauges and we can't use it to store other maps, you get what is on it and that's it.

Yeah, I just flashed the tune and put the handset away. You can use it to check for codes, but you'll never get codes with the MP215, anyway. It's the best tune to get if you don't want to change any hardware.
Well, it comes with a CAI, but that's easy to do. It probably helps a little.

But, like you, I eventually wanted more. I'm still tuning with my custom tuner, but it's so much better than the canned mountune stage 2 tune, I can't really explain it.

Hmmmmm.
Just having a little niggle with the remap at the moment. Day 1 was pretty epic as you may have seen in the video posted above but since then, power seems a little down and the car is experiencing some serious rev hangtime. Basically where ever the revs peak it will hang for a while before slowly returning to idle, sometimes making a toilet stop at 2000rpm on the way down 🤷‍♂️.

It is going in to Eurowerke a.k.a Revo Australia this Wednesday to hopefully diagnose and fix the issue.

Early thoughts from the mechanic who loaded the map is the torque request is asking too much and it tries to trim the timing, but doesn't.

Another possibility is that something hardware wise has been affected by the extra power/torque/boost.

Hopefully some dyno time and road testing with data logs will show what is happening and what is causing it.

Turns out the Revo Stage 2 didn't want to play with the Whoosh Short Ram Intake.

I found my Mountune box, installed it and the issue slowly went away.

Had it in today with Revo Australia/Eurowerke who logged the car and said it is now running well, even was able to increase the performance map to better suit the fuel so happy days in the end.

Update.

Over a month since the issue with the intake and the car is still running like a boss with the Mountune Intake.

I had it on the dyno the other day and it was consistently reading pretty low for all cars, Focus RS/ST, Fiesta ST, Volvo C30, BMWs etc.

The result was 127.5KW at the front wheels where you would expect 140-150 on other dynos.



I also finally bit the bullet and bought a Ford Performance carbon gearknob and fitted it.
It wasn't cheap but very happy now I have it.

A couple of little jobs done as an interim service.

New oil and filter
New gearbox oil
New brake fluid

Also bought a sump baffle and magnetic sump plug from Pumaspeed in the UK. Hopefully these are a good functional design and will help prevent any possible oil starvation issues on track.

Another good addition is the Whoosh Motorsport Boost pipes hot and cold side.
After the absolute ball ache I went through with AET Motorsports and their "premium kit" not fitting and not only no accountability from AET but blamed me for them not fitting (like I fucking designed and made them myself 🙄), the Whoosh Motorsports pipes went on very easily and measured up beautifully 👌.

But if the g forces get high enough, a dry sump system is needed, or at the very least an 'Accusump/Engine Oil Accumulator' type device on a wet sump system.

My average driving shouldn't reach many G-Forces.

Correct, as you'd have to be on soft compound full race slicks with full 3 way adjustable suspension, perfectly dialed-in, and all of the other suspension mods in order to be anywhere near the gs which would require a dry sump.

Hell, even the R5/'Rally 2' FIA WRC cars are NOT allowed to use dry sumps, and they are fully sorted for tarmac use with full suspension, and sticky tarmac tires.

I had the Whiteline Adjustabel Camber Bolts installed when the sump baffle went in.

I ended up with just over 2° neg camber and the scrubbing is pretty minimal now. Having said that the side of the tyre copping has a nice groove lol. I imagine when I rotate the wheels it will pick up a bit too.

No mods done for a while, just basic maintenance work really. Checked the pollen filter which was like new so put that back in and gave the air con system a clean with Autoglym A/C cleaner.

I thought the Mountune (UK) engine mount was starting to fail (see first pic). I got in contact with Mountune who, with a decent response time asked for photos which I sent pics of the mount still installed. They asked for photos of the actual bushes (fair play to them really) so today, I had the mount off and all pulled apart. The Powerflex bushes are in great condition still and no signs of wear, splitting or anything. Over 2 years of daily driving, 2 nights at Sydney Dragway and 3-4 track days.

It was interesting pulling them all apart, cleaning it up and reinstalling.

Now........ Do I get more firm bushes for it??? Hmmmm.

One of the original pics I sent to Mountune. Seeing the bushing pushed out had me worried.


All apart and cleaned up, ready to be put back together and installed.


Aaaaand back in the car, torqued to 48Nm. Will torque them again in 100-500km of driving.

New Lufi OBD II Gauge install and first thoughts video done.

Initially it's not too bad, as long as it is fairly accurate. Pending your car make and model this will read from the factory sensors so I can see things like coolant temp, AFR apparently, intake temps. What I can't see which I wish I could are oil pressure and temp.

I'm also not confident the gauge reads to 30psi as it shows on the screen as it seems to have a sharp consistent cut off at 22.5psi of boost (read from the map sensor).

No video for this one but today I had the rear brakes replaced. The stock pads were 72,xxx km old and had seen 4-5 track days. The discs were still good but replaced anyway.

I bought a full set front and rear of the EBC Yellow Stuff pads. After inspecting the Forza Brakes FP3 pads which have been amazing they still had a fair bit left so decided to leave them on. The front Yellow Stuffs will go back on the shelf until needed.

Rear Yellow Stuff pads and DBA T2 discs installed. The T2 is a solid disc but is slotted. Will be an improvement for the rear.

Run in will be to drive sensibly for a few hundred km and then do 8 fairly solid 100-40km/h stops and then let them cool.

Track day run in is to then go a little faster and brake harder to 40km/h then pull over to let cool completely.

I tried pricing out what these would be sent over to the states through DBA USA, and it was well OVER $1K USD for the set of four, and a possible half year+ wait time!!

They are great, high quality rotors, but for the same price as Ron's front BBK, that's a NO GO for me.

So I just ordered Ron's Brit cast, 'j hook' slot set for less than a third the co$t of the DBAs.
