High, new Member so please bare with me ....

My daughters ST150 2005 started idling at 1600 RPM, it wouldn't drop. With A/C on and the heated screens it would drop to 1000 RPM but still way too high.

Engine light wasn't on.

I gave the car a simple service and noticed that the throttle butterfly was coked up very badly, it moved freely though.

Anyway, today I decided to attack it ... took throttle body off, and cleaned it up as best I could.

Looked for any vacuum leaks - couldn't see any.

Broke and re-made all the connectors I could see around the engine bay and even under the car.

Anyway, she collected the car (it was still idling high, so all that work did nothing!) .... and it coughed and spluttered then stopped 1/2 mile up the road. Engine light came on with EAC Fail on the dash. What have I done?!

It started again and got her the 1 mile home but a very reduced power .....

A google tells me that EAC Fail is a common thing on other Fiesta variants up to age 2004 .... nothing at all about it affecting the ST from 2005.

My daughter wants to just throw it away and move on .... but it's too good for that.

Anyone any wisdom? Anyone been here before? Wish I hadn't touched it now! :(
