Bare tubing tips have always appealed to me. No fuss, no vanity, just simple functional exhaust. Maybe it's all the muscle cars I remember as a kid that most never had fancy tips. Idk.

Same here.

I cannot stand chrome or polished stainless tips, but I could never use an aluminized system in my locale for a year round driven car, since it would dissolve in a few years time. [:(]

Was on Amazon earlier and ran into this budget catback for the Fiesta ST by DNA.

Looks to be 3" and some sort of aluminized steel. Not bad for $225, if it sounds alright...

If you know that there are zero issues with rust where you live then not a bad way to go, at least there is a resonator and can always add a glasspack too... but wish there were 2.5", honestly, we're seeing even with turbo upgrades that stock 2 1/8th isn't even much of a restriction at all. Dizzy posted his x47 on 93 octane stock fueling and he was right up there at 280whp like everyone else with exhaust upgrades too. 3" on Fiesta is ridiculous overkill to me, LOL.

Well, could always add spool time whenever you add too much for to the stock turbo, and more likely to have rattle issues in simply being bigger, so just my personal choice to avoid quite that big.

I dont think it would add spool time. I think pre turbo adds spool time. The faster and easier the exhaust gasses escape out of the exhaust the better. If anything it's better to have too much flow over not enough. I do so wish ford would have used a lil bit bigger turbo on this car. There are a lot of cars that can be " fully bolted and tuned " and make good power over stock. Oh well I did choose to buy this car.

Quite true, uprated turbo inlet added spool, on exhaust it would mainly just add sound and I suppose 3" has it's own sound that some enjoy even if stock exhaust isn't restrictive...

I am just about to wrap up tuning with Ryan at PD Tuning on my x37 setup which includes the large inlet, turbosmart wga with 14 psi spring and a ported stock manifold, other mods which are also In my sig is the VT Big Mouth snorkel and CPE intake, whoosh catless downpipe and depo intercooler and charge pipes. I am currently running my stock catback with a resonator delete and I did a log today on road that's pretty flat but has a slight upward grade (downward going in the opposite direction obviously) so it reads a little high one way and a little low the other but I did a pull today in 50 degree weather 3rd gear 2500-7k and I split the difference between the low and high numbers (both pulls done in opposite directions on the same road) and i averaged 287 whp and 286 wtq via VDyno. The e85 we have here is very good...i checked it at 85% last winter and 90% during summer...haven't checked recently but it is good stuff and our 93 isn't bad either. I will probably go with a full 3 inch...more than likely thermal r&d because of the look and sound and I know I probably won't pick up much if anything over my current setup...like I said I am doing it mostly for looks and sound and also just to have better fitment with my true 3 inch whoosh catless dp. The setup I have now sounds pretty good for what it is and 0 drone and I highly recommend it to the budget minded person who wants a good sound without a lot of drone on the cheap with performance to boot. That is if you don't mind being catless. With a catted dp it would be too quiet for me as it's already on the quiet side (for me) as is. It has a very noticeable tone and sounds good...you can def tell it's modified and it has an aftermarket exhaust type sound with all my other mods it sounds good. I had resonator and muffler deleted for 2 years when I still had stock cat but when I went catless it was way too much even for me (I like them on the loud side usually) so I had to throw the stock muffler back on for the time being until I get the thermal.

p.s. btw that 3 inch exhaust someone posted above is 2.55 inside diameter fyi...3 inch is the OD...

Honestly the cheapest way to get sound is simply swap the stock muffler for a glasspack, nothing more... Adds lots of sound, must amplify it or something, all while 100% stock cat and rest of exhaust, so you are running clean too... Again, not out to convince people out of an exhaust system, I just wanted to add a great way to get sound for cheap and run clean.

Muffler delete is good too if sound is your only concern. DP don't do alot on stock turbo but when you have a hybrid or bt the DP helps a decent amount

Resonator delete if you want very little change in overall sound
Muffler delete only if you want more sound
Both if you want more sound still on the cheap
If you wanna go catless and still have a good sound on the cheap resonator delete with the catless dp and stock muffler or you could swap it for an aftermarket muffler for more which is something I'm also considering but I would like the exhaust to outlast the car and have good fitment which is why I'm considering thermal or cpe

Maybe better results with a vibrant bottle resonator in the place of the muffler? Or even a vibrant muffler, those things flow crazy well and sound pretty good.
Glasspacks definitely can't be used as a replacement for the front muffler/resonator, definitely too hot there, I had them blow out too back in the day installing them up front like that too. :) But I figure at the end of the system they will likely last MUCH longer but also like your idea too, a Vibrant Ultra Quiet would be a GREAT higher quality alternative. There just isn't much talk about straight replacement mufflers, I'd like to maybe try something else to bring down accel volume some, it's definitely a bit louder than I thought would be, but doing J side hotside pipe and even turbo inlet have helped with less backpressure to bring the volume down since... I guess any 18-19" long muffler with 2.25" inlet would fit with room to curve down a bit for proper exit height with room left for choice of tip... I literally just pieced that together just to get some proper sound with a Symposer delete at a low cost.
