Oil pressure/temperature guage

Hello, was just wondering if it was worth installing an aftermarket oil pressure/temperature guage?

As the car does not have either. Would this be worth the investment? I have the fear of my engine overheating lol

I would personally be more worried about the coolant temperature... you could purchase a COBB accessport and use that to monitor certain temperatures and variables, including coolant temperature. You can use that without modifying the car to fit an "aftermarket gauge"

Peace of mind is worth a lot, however a oil temp gauge isn't really needed on our engines... The filter is attached to a cooling block and has lines that exchange temp with the coolant. If oil temps start climbing, so will coolant so that track that🤷🏼‍♂️

Yes an oil temp gauge is necessary. So is an oil cooler.

I can’t get more than a few laps when the ambient temps are above 30C before the oil & coolant require cooldown laps. Ymmv

Then the answer is no, driving on the street barely gets the oil up to operating temp. You can monitor an estimation of oil temp with an AP, so just make sure you have an AP to tune the new engine.

Cobb Accessport, but you probably use something else for MAP based tuning over there…

*MAF based in Europe, and access ports aren't used there 😕 you can use an OBD2 dongle like this along with a related app.. I personally prefer Torquepro but any similar app should be able to display engine information.
