Car play not working with I phone 15 pro

So I just recently upgraded to the I phone 15 with the new usb c port. I have a 2016 fiesta st. I previously updated the usb port and software for sync 3 and had car play working for years in my car on my old I phone. But when I plugged in the new phone with a usb a to usb c cord it will not enable car play, the phone does seem to be charging off the cord though. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Just seeing if anyone has resolved it yet. Thank you!

This is a common problem. Apparently one of the most common issues is that iphone 15 won't work with every USB cable. You have to use cables that meet some unknown criteria to work with the iphone 15. The Apple brand cables work, and apparently Anker makes cables that work like this one https://a.co/d/aSVYPaY
