If your FiST was totaled today, what would you be shopping for tomorrow?

Has anyone seen the new Hyundai Santa Cruz pick up? Good looking vehicle for $24,000. A little more than the Ford p/u, but better looking!

Ford Maverick hybrid XLT trim. I priced one out a while back and it was $27,000.
With the insane cost of everything now I have kind of lost interest in car modifications, and sport cars in general.

If my FiST got totaled today, I would buy the cheapest P.O.S. I could find on Craig's List. I don't want to pay what they're asking for anything new or late-model these days. I could easily hang with a 1997 Cavalier or Neon until things get back to normal. If things don't get back to normal and prices remain stupid even for econo cars, I'd consider the FiST my last fun car, and stick with motorcycles.

As it is now, the extra two wheels is for precip, hauling groceries and the occasional passenger(s). Just doesn't make sense to haul 3,000lbs around for a 150lb person with 20lbs worth of whatever.
No car is fun sitting in traffic, not event a FiST. But I only use mine on weekends, when L.A. traffic is light.

I’ve actually been tossing around the idea of selling my 13k mile ‘19 FiST and picking up an M240i or a slightly used M2.

Saw a GR86 yesterday and really liked it. E30s always appealed to me too. Both would suffer at 7200ft though.

oh, and I need to stay off the MKI and MKII Escort FB page…there’s some really nice MKIIs I would love to have if I can figure out import costs and registration.

Had the chance to drive an M2 competition at BMW driving school and I wouldn’t hesitate a bit to buy one. Great car to drive.

You've been scoping out those big flared, Minilite wheeled, road race/tarmac rally setup ones, haven't you?? [biggrin] [raceflag] [thumb]

This one is about as developed as they get while still retaining a solid (albeit floating) rear axle, with full Reiger suspension, sequential, and a screaming Millington $erie$ 2 powerplant.

I'd be looking for something as light as the FiST. I luved my Mazda 3 when I had it but it's a larger vehicle.
I feel the same way, but that's the problem for me in thinking about other cars. Almost every other car that I find interesting is significantly heavier. The only one that comes close is the Subaru BRZ at about 2,800 lbs.
I find the Civic type R pretty appealing, but it's about 3,200 lb. The lightness of our car is one of its best attributes for me, and adds significantly to the agile handling and quick turn in.
