Hard wiring using Escort's Direct Wire Smart Cord.

Really all I needed for the install was an ATM add a circuit and an extra fuse.

Since the fuses are behind the glove box, the control unit was pushed from the passenger side to the driver side at the very front of the center console. If you start from the passenger side you can pull it through to the drivers side without having to remove any panels.

I mounted it with double sided tape on the knee panel just right of the steer wheel. The direct sight of the lights are blocked by the steering wheel, but you have easy access to the function button.

You have to removed the glove box to get to the fuse panel. You push each side of the glove box to remove. Very simple. The ground wire is kind of hard to spot, but its installed underneath one of the support bolts.

The add a circuit plugs into the windshield wiper spot and is off if the ignition is off. The crimp connector was cut off as well as the spade on the Escort line and they were soldered and shrink tubed. The fuse on the Escort line was also retained. Crimp would probably be fine.

The line to the detector can be run out from the glove box if pry the side panel open a bit. Looks like there is a channel made for that purpose that goes to the pillar.

Continuing up the pillar.

Across

To the Max2. Since it's going from drivers side all the way up the passenger pillar, then over to the detector, almost the whole length of the cables (both power cables and cable to detector) are used so there is really nothing to bundle.

Uber thanks for the write up! I wired the function button thingy behind the a/c temp control unit and mounted it on the top of my steering column. I'll post a few pictures in a while. [perfect10]

Thanks for this write up!

I used to last week to install mine, was very helpful!

I taped the control unit to a piece of dowell to get it back behind the dash to the spot by the knee airbag. Two people really helped here.
