installing mountune rear spoiler extension with 3M tape?

Have anyone tried installing the spoiler extensions with 3M tape instead of the glue-on adhesive?
The mountune sales rep told me that he recommended using 3M instead since the glue was made to be nearly permanent and could possibly damage the clear coat?? o_O

Yeah some one recently selling was their extensions they had used 3m tape to install it
