Hi everybody, this is my first time posting on the forum so forgive me if I am missing any details. I have a 2015 Ford Fiesta ST with 104k miles and just began having a problem where the car makes a loud tapping noise only on cold starts. The tapping sounds very similar to valve noise and follows the rpm’s as you rev the car. Once the car comes up to temperature the noise disappears completely and only the normal injector and HPFP ticking can be heard. The car has a brand new cam bucket follower for the HPFP with less than 3k miles (old one was in great shape and the cam lobe was perfect) and there is no movement or rattle of any kind on the heat shields. The sound definitely seems to be coming from the upper end of the motor and using a stethoscope sounds most prominent closest to the HPFP(loud metallic tapping not smooth ticking). I’m most likely thinking it is the HPFP but seeing as they are quite expensive I do not want to shell out the cash for a new one without being 100% sure that is the case.
Also- I tried uploading a video but the forum says that the file is too large to upload.
