Unless in big demand used wheels and tires even in great shape generally sell for half the new cost including mounting, balancing, etc...
I would not go bigger than a 205/45/17 as wider and taller mean more fitment issues, more weight for very little added rubber on the road, less rim support usually means less precise feedback and handling.
The wheel offset will effect what you can run as well.
The mount for the bumper cover to the fenders might need trimmed, I had to trim mine but not sure if it was to fit the wide race tires and wheels or the Mich AS tires in the size above.
I am seriously considering selling my lightly used Konig Feathers, great low cost low weight wheels(4x100 only) , and Mich PS A/S3 tires and going to 16's for my 3 season setup, I would run 15's but no tires made I can use on 9" wide wheels and that is the only size that will fit over my DIY BBKs. The reason for going to 16's is ride quality, the 225/45/15 Rival S summer tires ride much better than the A/S 3 in 17" and an unexpected bonus, they are quieter. I like to mention 15 and 16" options as they look great on the car, less weight, usually less cost, ride better, more protection over potholes, etc.......
