I'm coming up on my next oil change, typically I use Valvoline, but recently found the molyglen now is API SQ with extra lspi protection..

Does anybody have experience with molyglen, new or older formulas? And are you still using the oil?

I had it in my sump last oil change (5w-30) and the one before that (5W-20 for winter).
It was pretty good, the engine/valvetrain was always fairly quiet (even on cold startup) with it, but I only used it up to 3500 miles each OCI.

My rationale was that LM designed this to be similar to, and less co$tly competition for the Motul 300V oils (albeit without the high content percentage Group 4 and 5 base stocks of that now $30.00+/liter product) at least additive package wise.

That it meets (or is even certified for??) some manufacturers' specs is a definite benefit, since 300V most certainly does NOT!

Therefore most definitely NOT either a long(er) drain oil, nor one which could stand up to fuel dilution very well (the same can be said about the exorbitantly priced 300V as well, despite it's superior base stocks).

So about 2 weeks ago I switched back to my 'old faithful' Ravenol 5W-30 DXG, which was designed from the ground up to be LSPI resistant, and much more capable of standing up to any short tripping fuel dilution, acids formed from blow-by, etc.
It also has tungsten and trimer type moly as anti-friction/anti-wear additives, and is fully Group 4 PAO base stock, with a bit of Group 5 esters thrown in for good measure, and has one of the lowest NOAK volatility ratings for a 5W-30 oil, which also helps resist LSPI, (albeit not lower than the Amsoil Signature series 5w-30).

Yup, it IS more coin than even the full price, non-discounted Molygen, but I also trust it for more than 4K mile OCIs as well.
