Rubbing :(

I'm running 215/40/17 Yokohama Advan AD08R tires on Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 17x7.5 in FiST fitment. BC coilovers with Swift springs and I'm pretty low (2 finger wheel gap).

My tires are rubbing against something that I cannot figure out. I've already rolled the front fenders (didn't pull), just flattened the lip. I also have cut the fender tab on both fenders.

What the hell, I've never had to do so much work to fit such a tiny ass tire. I've gotten most of the rub to go away, I would say about 95% is rub free. However, I'm still rubbing on big dips on the freeway at normal speed (80mph to 90mph). I know the rubbing is not the fender liner because the noise is pretty violent.

Has anyone else had to do anything beyond cutting the fender tab and rolling front fenders?

My guess. Rear wheel well. Pull the (driver side looking at tyre) liner and at the 2-3 oclock there is a mating between two body parts. On the liner you see it a s junt out. This the rub when going over dips. Had it barely when running 215/45R17 last winter.

For my own reference as well! I'm looking for a set up to not rub at all. I'm thinking Rota Titan 17x8 offset: 40 mm with 215/40/17 tires on lowering springs (may be swifts or mountune).. would it rubbb?[confused]

this car should have come with 16" wheels. i have the vogtland lowering springs(1.4" drop in F&R). Running a 215x45x16 on a 16x8 wheel. the fronts are pretty much tucked and the rear have little to no gap and i don't rub at all. granted i had to roll the fenders a bit.

I have been using P215/40 17 tires on my Mountune sport spring equipped ST and when I had the FRPP lowering kit on my 2011 Fiesta. No rubbing issues, but it was close on the rear fender liners close to where the rear bumper cover meets the quarter panel.

Yes.

I rub with 215/40R17's with a 17x7 ET 40 at full lock and over big bumps.

I'm on BC Racing coilovers.
Could you do me a huge favor and measure the center of the wheel to the top of the front and rear wheel lip? I can then compare this to my Mountune springs. I am still on my winter tire setup, so anything that is from the ground to the car won't match when I get ready to install summer tires. The center of the wheel to the 12-o-clock position on the wheel lip on the fender and quarter will tell me the axle position. Trying to decide if I should get new summer tires on order and if I should go with P205/45 17. My P215/40 17 S-Drives are about done and I prefer to install new tires in the spring when the summer wheels are in the garage.

This is intriguing, as I'm on H&R Sport springs and I rub in the front with my new wheel setup, 17x8 +40 Rota Titans with 215/40/17 tires. It is really only if I'm going up or down an incline and my wheels are turned and there's a slight bump in the road.

I'll be switching to the Swift/Bilstein combo this weekend so I'm hopeful this gets rid of the rubbing.

For my own reference what offset are the TD's? Because I want to run the same size tire.
I have the same tires and TD 1.2's in ET48 with no rub with stock springs. My set of 15x8 et35's have that sound and I've tracked it down to the outer edge of the front bumper where it meets the fender. I'm going to pull the fender more in that spot while heating the bumper in that area to hopefully get more clearance.

what is the wheel center to fender lip measurement looking like? I'm on the same wheels with 215/40 Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec, on bilstein coilovers and fairly low (not pictured in signature, but here). Have yet to rub but there's also highway speeds here are half your 80-90. Looking at specs on Tirerack

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?AFFCODE=AD5&tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=ADVAN+Neova+AD08+R
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?AFFCODE=AD5&tireMake=Dunlop&tireModel=Direzza+ZII+Star+Spec

yokohama: 8.6" section width 8.2" tread width
dunlop: 8.6" section width 8" tread width

section width being the width at the widest point between inner and outer sidewall. Could be the Yokohamas run a bit wider and it made all the difference. Have you been able to determine where on the tire it is rubbing, by wear or using chalk or something to mark on the car where the rubbing happens?
