A real Rally car like to enter a race or looks like a Rally car you drive on the street? Either way MSportfan is going to have a field day with thread. Get ready [vommit]

I would check out Team O'neil rally on YouTube. They go through a build series for their fiesta rally car. Reiger suspension, full cage, seam welds, the whole deal.

Well for starters the power is great everywhere. On E50 with aux fuel it’s a beast. The cams and springs allowed a 7200 rpm redline to be taken advantage of. Mitch cut it off there as there wasn’t anything to be gained beyond that. It doesn’t just make power for few seconds with a big drop off. The line goes up and flattens out. Very usable and responsive

"Field Day report" (LOL);

First of all, one must learn to actually DRIVE a rally car if planning on entering an ARA Performance Rally.
Get some instruction at Team O'Neil's rally school, or Dirt Fish, or where ever else. [wink]

Team O'Neil is NOT doing any prep work anymore (ONLY the school), and for our rides, it looks like O.D.D. Racing in Colorado is one of the better prep shops, which also has an 'arrive and drive' program using their own cars.

McKenna Motorsports also has an arrive and drive program with both R2,(1.0 EcoBoost Fiesta FWD rally cars with Sadev sequential gearboxes and full Reiger gravel suspensions) and R5 Fiestas (AWD, 1.6 EcoBoost modded/built for more power, Sadev sequential, much body work and aero, one step below a full-on WRC class/level ride), but not too sure that they do prep work on a customer's car (forgot to ask them this past weekend at NEFR).

IF you are serious about this, I would suggest you stick to a LIMITED 2WD class FiST as a build (limited mods, NO sequentials allowed), and realize that even though the car must be registered and plated as street legal in order to compete, the requisite cage/safety equipment/etc. really renders the car NOT 'streetable'. [wink]

I don’t get why a cage isn’t street legal but it’s safer than no cage. Hmmm
It depends on the state/area laws as far as actual legality goes, but most say that unless one is planning on wearing a helmet every time they hop in the car, it is dangerous regardless of how much padding is on that cage.

The harnesses are also not street legal, save for the one model from Schroth with the push button center lock release instead of a camlock/latch and link release.
The actual rally crews DO drive these things on the streets for the transits between (getting to) the stages, without helmets on, and with the harnesses buckled, but that is NOT on a everyday/daily basis.
