I’m going to swap an engine from a wrecked 2018 fiesta st into a 2016 fiesta st.

anything to consider or look out for in this process or should it be pretty much as plug and play as possible?

Nope....everything should be fine* While the Engine is out id be doing a Water pump....Timing belt....Tensioner. Id also be doing the Idler Pulley and Belt tensioner on the accessory drive too* If its A 75k+ engine for mileage.

Just FYI the 2018 is not the same as the 2016. I found out the hard way when attempting to buy parts to swap over.

Parts places won't necessarily know if the engine was altered (different turbo for example) on the original engine.

Based commentary from Microsoft's chat bot, @FiestaaaST might be referring to the EVAP system? This could entail programming changes; not just hard parts.
