I'm a defector! ![Cheerleader [cheerleader] [cheerleader]](/images/smilies/icon_smile_cheerleader.gif)
I sold my 3 SVTF back in 2012 for a brand new PB Focus ST2, and it was a great car, but I never could fully fall in love with it. I realized that going from a rally chassis to a "touring" chassis really took a lot of the fun out of my driving. I had it tuned, muffler delete, intake filter and a swaybar, and it was WRX quick. Still, it got boring. I put 35K on it in almost 2 years.
I had checked the payoff amount for the FST and then I took the car in for a trade-in estimate.....and they had NO issues paying off what I owed. They wanted my car BAD too.....noooobody has a FST preowned 1-owner car on their lot. So, I suddenly was back looking at fiesta ST's, no longer online but finally in person since they were on the lots. I was pretty close to walking out of the FST and into a FiST with a lower payment. I did some dealing and they found one 180mi away, then my bro found another identical one 80mi away. I went down friday, saw the car, REALLY liked it, did the test drive, and did about 2hrs of "we cant do that" to "we can do this" hem and haw with the guys, and in the end they got me to where I wanted and a payment I was OK with. I did get the 1.9% with $750 incentive, and the car I got was about $25,400, LOADED. Every option. I got it for over 1K off the price. they really wanted the focus.
I took the car with 101mi, and now I have over 400. I am back in my rally car chassis, and I am home. Here is some pro's and cons for everyone who wants to know. I doubt many have owned both.
Loaded Focus ST2:
-faster
-bigger
-more room in boot
-less leg room on pass side
-bigger screen
-wheelspin/tq steer is crazy.
-Tq-Vectoring using brakes for wheelspin control got me down to the metal on the inner pad and rotors ruined by 30K. not acceptable.
-1-touch down all windows - LOVE!
-steering wheel shape - LOVE!
-brakes.....not grabby enough
-feels like a big car
-center exhaust kinda annoying when loading boot while car is running.
Loaded Fiesta ST:
-Smaller
-can throw around like a ragdoll in the corners! RALLYCAR! feels like an old ST170 Focus.
-slower....but more smiles from the driver
-brakes: HOLY BRAKES. Not since I had the SVTF have I been able to brake like this. THANK YOU FORD!!!!
-smaller boot area.
-MUCH easier to install a catch can as the PCV line is on top of the engine. super easy.
-no 4X4 wheel gap! I finally don't have to slam a car to kill wheel gap!
-great tires.
-ambient lighting is awesome. love it.
-no boost/oil press gauges.
-NO 1-touch windows except driver window.
overall, I am TOTALLY happy with my change. I wish the Fiesta ST was out in 2012. The Fiesta is a smile-maker, even if it's slower.
