DHM Race Crash Bar and Intercooler!

Finally received my DHM race crash bar and installed a new Airtec FMIC at the same time. Installation of just the intercooler is scary easy, as most of you know. Installing a DHM crash bar with a stock location fmic is just a couple of steps longer. The factory airbag sensor plate welds were cut off at the factory crash bar and bolted on over the DHM crash bar mount. The only thing I didn't have was a nut for the horn mount, which I found in a junk drawer. Otherwise everything bolts up easily.

I drilled air holes in the air bag sensor plate and vertical radiator support bar. I also sanded the grill backing. Some sort of plastic will be installed to keep air from escaping on top of the fmic. It's a beautiful thing.

Would like to know if you can mount it upside down so the bar is not showing?

No that is not possible. The mounts for everything have to be mounted correctly.

Wow that looks amazing. I will be doing the same thing soon. I'm interested to see how much this helps cooling combined with some kind of vents on the hood.

Looks great, nice weight reduction and opened up grill for more effective cooling for the engine and glad you drilled the holes in the crash bar mount and the hood support mount, great no cost mods!

Two larger nuts for the core support-to-crash bar & one smaller nut that I used on the hood latch support-to-crash bar. I'll look agaiin to double-check, but that's what was in the bag. I have a bunch of those tab-nuts from taking cars apart over the years. Easy fix. Everything else was a non-event, which is much appreciated!

Damn!!! I missed that. I did remember putting on small in but you needed two. I'm sorry about that! No need to double check I know I only put one in but I forgot about the center support. Sorry again

I didn't drive it much more than to the grocery store, and without any datalogs, but coolant seems to run 182-185 deg F vs 187-189 deg F cruising around the suburb. No concrete evidence so far obviously, but I love it anyway.

DHM radiator, crash bar and first DHM EFR turbo install and only four tuning runs so not making full power yet but 248 WHP, 91 octane, 5200 ft elevation, 18.38 PSI, IC mounted 2" lower than original design so I could fit my oil cooler so less exposed to direct air flow, not finished with the ABS sheeting to ensure as much air flows into the IC, oil cooler and radiator and still it was 86 degrees out and the highest charge air temp was just 88.6 degrees.

2.8 degrees over ambient temp is amazing!

Was well over 100 today. Tends to stay too hot here, perfect reason for an intercooler like this.

I forgot how hot that area can be but never spent much time there, part of a summer in Filer working for Green Giant back in the late 60's though.

Russ at DHM explained the pressure issue running a big IC as some believe it will cause a lot of lag but he showed it does not do so.

It gets pretty damn hot here in vegas as well. Most of the time my intake air temp is around 120-135 depending on the day and charge temps are usually 20-25 degrees cooler than that.

Charge temps should stay right inline with out side temp no matter what the intake air temp. That's part of our design! To bad some people still don't understand.

You should take some logs for me!

Its been hard to find time to take logs and I live in a really busy area so its hard to find an open area as well but I think I know of a spot that could be ok, it's just a bit of a drive.
