I'm currently installing the whoosh smf kit. That's their single mass flywheel with sprung clutch and yellow pressure plate. Gonna be a minute before I put it all back together because I accidentally punched a hole in my transmission case, luckily the top case and I already got another on the way. Mostly just looking if anyone's got any mileage on this kit so I can feel more comfortable that I'm not going to be destroying my transmission. Thanks

I have the RTS Dual Friction SMF style setup on my Fist for the last 30Kish* No issues here. I also have a Clark Fully Built Transmission with a Wavtrac LSD along with ever Bell and Whistle he has to offer. I also have Ran the Fomoco Fluid....Bg Syncro shift 2 and Ravenol MTF 2 * All are great choices. The flywheel i do believe you have is an RTS and is pretty mush the same weight as the OEM DMF..

I have messaged Ron to see if he has any data on this. From one customer they said they weighed the stock DMF at 27lbs and the Whoosh SMF at 20lbs, which isn't a huge reduction in weight but it's something. I'm just worried now if switching to the SMF kit is gonna cost me my transmission. Seeing that no one has any reviews on the Whoosh kit is making me kinda feel like the guinea pig but I guess I'll just have to see how it goes. Worst case I'll probably save up and throw a Clarke transmission in

whats the question - whether it works or not? Got about 30K on a woosh smf, and RTS, with a Clarke (not a 'colby') and wavetrak. 1st gear took some time to get my footwork right. Now its time for struts again...

Whether the SMF ends up causing damage to transmissions. I have a stock transmission and have heard lots of people tell me they've lost reverse or eventually ground gears using SMFs. But I've not heard of anyones experience using the whoosh kit on a stock transmission.

You say you got 30k on the whoosh. Do you feel it was worth it?

The oe trans input shaft broke at 59K, rebuilt by Ford under warranty. By 100K it was toast, and fool me twice, was not going to Ford again. Since all the B6's come from the same place, with the same components, something else was called for. Currently racking up additional mileage not possible with a broken unit. Am I flogging it at every chance? thats a no

Yes - correct, and I realize I didn't address the question. The flywheel is giving no indications of disintegration - nice strong interface.

Yeah that's where I'm thinking the issues were from the flywheel being TOO light, and or people being dumb and using unsprung clutches. I should be finishing my installation later this week or next when I get another off day

Got everything buttoned up today and drove the car finally. It feels really different. I can still creep in traffic just fine and shifts feel smoother but a bit touchy, kinda like I have to feather it more. I also reverse bled the clutch and it still feels a LOT lighter than before. I'm figuring this is due to the fact my old clutch was totally shot? Clutches get heavier with wear right? The engagement point is at the bottom now instead of high up on the pedals. Overall it feels good I can't wait till I'm done with the break in period to romp it

Thats what I was saying...really light. My engagement is still up high though - quasi-normal.

250 miles in. Light clutch was due to the master cylinder leaking onto my floor... Changed master today and now it's feeling like stock weight again. So far really liking how the revvs fall faster. Still have to wait a 2 seconds before shifting into 2nd to avoid the clunk(maybe a tune would help I'm stock).

600 miles so just past official break in period. I went ahead and did a few WOT pulls and it feels good. Engagement is strong n quick and the LSD I installed made a HUGE difference! I've noticed the engagement point has gone back to semi middle(back to normal). I've also noticed the pedal feels lighter as RPMs increase, is this normal? Under 3k it's firm, over 3k the pedal gets lighter. Shifting under WOT the pedal is super light, not like non-existent light, but twice as light as under 3k. Besides that I'm loving it! 1st to 2nd shift is so much smoother now that the RPMs drop quick

I think that's one of the weaknesses of the electric diverter being either on or off, I'm going to be upgrading to a diverter+ so I'll let you know if it changes the response like claimed

You getting the v2(full replacement) or the v1(uses stock parts)?

confused - diverter valve on turbo? i'm having boost issues and wondering if WG/DV need to be swapped out rather than the turbo

Yeah the diverter is mounted on the turbo, are you tracking your WGDC info? I rarely get above 80% duty cycle so I'm leaning towards a weak spring allowing boost by... Mind you this is only at higher pressures I've seen 21psi regularly this summer, just not the 26 dizzy claims

I am having "turbo lag" but WGDC even with my tuner was at 99% so I'm not sure what to do there... maybe wastegate is stuck open a part amount?
