Not sure what this stuff is. It's collected on top of the spoiler. I thought it was either some type of mold or tree sap. I tried using 99% Isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) and Goo-Gone based on suggestions I read for removing tree samp. Didn't seem to loosen or dissolve the black stuff at all. Any ideas what it might be and how to remove it? I was going to try a clay bar next.

Have you tried bug & tar remover (the old Turtle Wax stuff)? Then soap and water?

The plastic panels on the car act differently than doors, hood, roof... I find a little more, umm, aggressive methods work. or reading spy novels too much - persuasive methods...it ain't SEMA

its going to take some elbow grease for sure. I'd start with dish soap, a toothbrush to agitate, and then a polishing compound followed by either wax or ceramic coating.

I like the Maguire's line. available at most auto parts stores. try a compound and a polish on a clean rag in that order.

Yeah, our illustrious tree pollen is totally out of control here in the Garden State this time of year. [:(][:(!]

Why I always run outside after a rain when that shit is all over the car, turning it green, and wipe down any puddles where the pollen can be 'activated' by water (most especially the rear spoiler 'pockets' around the cutouts and the center).

To add to the problem, many times when blanketed in this green crap, we only get that weak, shower type rain which does not wash any off, but just allows it to etch into the clear coat surface.
(Why I keep excessive, redundant, OCD multiple coats of wax/sealer on it this time of year, whenever I get the chance to do so. [wink])

Your rear spoiler will most likely take a rough cut cleaner/compound after all of the other methods listed above first to get presentable at this point.
