Is there a way to disable the front passenger airbag for the US model?

Planning a half cage install so I want to be able to put a car seat in the front if needed and our family car is occupied.

This only applies to right now while my youngest is still in a rear facing seat. This wont matter soon when she starts sitting front facing. But just in case, I wanted to know how to do it.

I believe there's a weight sensor in the seat that only activates the airbag over a certain weight. 'I believe' I don't for sure know how it works or what the weight limit is.
I do know that when I put my lunch bag on the passenger seat and belt it in, the 'passenger airbag off' light turns on.

Yea I know it will disable under a certain amount of weight, but legally it needs to be disabled completely for a rear facing seat to be used up front.

I know the EU models have a switch in the glove box for this. As do many two door trucks. My guess is that its not an option since our cars come with 4 doors and a backseat.

Unless someone can enlighten us, I guess my youngest wont be traveling with me until shes a little older.

Fortunately my Fiesta is not my daily driver, but I like the option of being able to take a kid to Cars and Coffee, etc.

Get her some Goggles and use some bungie cords and strap her up to the top of the roof in the chair.....Its what id do...Kidding. I do wish we had the Key option to turn off the front airbag for things like this. Or you can just let her feel like a Big person and sit her in the front seat all belted up...I wont tell. I dont know about you But i sat in the front on my mothers lap and in the middle and lived to tell about it.[rockon]
