This one is about as developed as they get while still retaining a solid (albeit floating) rear axle, with full Reiger suspension, sequential, and a screaming Millington $erie$ 2 powerplant.

I'd be looking for something as light as the FiST. I luved my Mazda 3 when I had it but it's a larger vehicle.

It's a shame that Mazda could not have built a modern day 323GTX on the Mazda 2 platform.
That would have been perfect as an AWD, turbo, toss-able light setup, except that few would buy that car for the $30K++ they would have had to charge for it.

Anything with a Millington is out of my price range! Shoot, I’d be happy with an SVT Zetec on ITBs so I could run pump gas.
Shipping costs weren’t as bad as I expected but the challenges of getting it registered/titled, etc is a concern. I don’t think I want a track-only car right now.

The Fiesta is still new to me so right now I'd just look for a clean, low miles 2019 if such a thing exists.

But if I'm looking at other models, man I don't know. There just isn't much for hot hatches anymore.

Focus RS would probably be my first choice. Otherwise a clean E36 or a 350z but I always thought of those two as back of the garage project cars more than part time daily drivers.

Tough choice, but either an Elantra N (though I’d ideally wait for the midcycle refresh next year…it’s ugly)

Or a Civic sport hatchback and then wait for GR Corolla prices to come down

Aren't they old enough to far far exceed the import gray market restrictions, as well as any emissions and safety regs, despite not ever being sold here?

Or even if they could be registered are they restricted to very limited, 'historic' plate, severely low yearly mileage limits, weekend and only to and from car show type use on the public roads (as is the case with historic plates in Joyzee)??

There is one competitor in the ARA using a big flared Mk2 in the Open 2WD class, but he has transplanted a naturally aspirated 'stang 3.7 32 valve V-6 into the thing, so even without catcons (which he may have, as I never looked, or asked him about that), it is more 'emissions legal' than any lump which ever came in that ride.

Unless he put some high overlap cams into that engine, which given it's flame spitting out the tailpipes tendencies on decel, I suspect he has (IF those were even ever available for that engine ).

I originally was supposed to look at a Mitsubishi Mirage (non-hatch) but the dealer wasn't available to show it that day so I went to at look at my current 2018 ST and walked out of the dealership same-day with the keys... delighted by the way things turned out.

ya What can I say I want power and handling . I mean I am not crazy about the GR Corolla for its price hence looking up market and the GR86 while cool still needs a bit more power in my book. I am kinda done with cars that come underpowered from the factory. I was actually done with it before I bought my FiST as a daily . Thing is when I got on the backroads with my buddy’s and their FiST’s they had larger turbo’s and well I felt underpowered. Though I would rather buy a car that I do not have to really think about upgrading power these days.

An elise was not a fun car to drive for more than like 45 minutes, but I'm over 6 foot and all torso. Head clearance was an issue, every bump was a hit to the kidneys, and the sheer amount of noise was kinda mind numbing. Took about 4 months to decide "welp thats enough of that". That being said, I'm also not young, so knees/back/etc. all complained about that car. Once upon a time I would've had no qualms about daily driving an elise, exocet, ariel in a helmet but man... folding up just isn't that fun anymore.

This is why I want an Emira . I mean could fit into an Elise all 5’7” 165 lbs of me lol. But ya no the Emira is easier to get into it fits people better and it’s got modern attributes for use while retaining that Lotus Magic and being a hoot to drive.
