*New update*
After getting my car back on the 23rd and proclaiming success with repairs on here, I had a new issue. I got in my FiST on the 26th and it had loud chattering noises coming from the engine bay on deceleration. When accelerating or taking it out of gear...the noise would disappear. It was memorial weekend so I had to wait until the 28th to drop it off at the dealership.
Since then, I got a diagnosis from Ford that it's either the Flywheel or the Clutch. If it's the flywheel, Ford will pay for the repair. If it's the clutch, Sliver Rock (carvana's warranty company) will pay for it.
Sounds easy right?
Saturday 6/1 I get a message from Ford saying that Silver Rock will not authorize the tear down of the transmission. Apparently, somewhere in conversation between Ford and Silver Rock there was talk of a a possible 3rd "unknown" possibility. Because of this 3rd "unknown" issue Silver Rock will not authorize the tear down and would like for Ford to extend their manufacturer's warranty to cover the tear down of the transmission in the case of said "unknown." So now, we're waiting until monday to ask the warranty dept for this extension. Which I don't see Ford saying yes to.
I spoke with Carvana to get advise of this Chicken/Egg situation that might arise if Ford doesn't approve the extension. Carvana had no advise other than to get an assessment of what Ford might think this "unknown" might be. Which doesn't make sense! IF ANYONE HAD AN IDEA WE WOULDN'T BE CALLING IT AN "UNKNOWN." The ONLY way to find out what is ACTUALLY wrong ...we have to crack it open. So far we're standing at a stalemate for no good reason.
Obviously I'm getting ahead of myself and things could play out smoother. But the bureaucracy of this situation is mind numbing. Carvana also supplements any repairs Silver Rock won't cover in the first few months that it's covered.
I actually made the first round of repairs sound smooth but they were just as bad then too. The car was delivered on the April 24. I have driven the car a total of 10 days, 3ish days of which the car was driving seemingly normal.
So, I'm obviously venting. Has anyone else had situation like this? More importantly, when it was over, were you still happy with the car and have been trouble free since then?
