Oil Leak - Photo of Source

Hey all,
Looking for some insight into an oil leak before bringing my fiesta into the shop - it’s a 2014 fiesta ST. It has been leaking a moderate amount of oil for the past couple weeks. Would anyone be able to help me pinpoint the leak using this photo? Would greatly appreciate any insight. Thanks!

That's not much oil, considering it's on the filter/cooler block for oil it's even less surprising... But it's honestly hard to tell from that single image, I would degrease your engine thoroughly and inspect after a drive... The vacuum pump seal has been known to weep in these so check there as well

Appreciate the lead! Thank you. In terms of the amount of oil, there has about fist size pool of oil on my driveway left every week or so at this point.

That is a picture of the oil cooler. The single largest item attached to the oil cooler that will leak is the oil filter. You can see two hoses, the oil inlet and outlet hoses for the cooler. These would also be potential sources for a leak.

I was about to say - 'that not much in my hood'. I'm avoiding a valvecover gasket causing pooling into the sparkplug wells, so that could contribute. It does eventually leave coin-sized spots...

It may be normal to have oil on the bottom of the oil cooler block following an oil and filter change. There's just no way to avoid having the oil from the filter drain off it during filter removal.

So that can be misleading. However once wiped away, maybe twice over week of driving for added measure, the oil there should remain gone.

In my case, sometimes when changing the filter the nipple the filter threads onto which also threads into the oil cooler sometimes loosens up when removing the filter.

Next oil/filter change (or before that if it is a concerning amount of oil loss) make SURE that nipple is FULLY and tightly threaded into the oil cooler BEFORE installing the new filter.

Wow I've never heard of that. Good to know. 👍
May be a good idea to look up the torque spec and find out how to torque it down.
