Rota Titan?

I had Titans in fact still have two of them a certain section of the 110 Freeway took 2 out and yes if you hit potholes with them they will go out of round. Up in Simi that’s probably not an issue but in LA it can be. My Dekagrams have held up longer. Though the Dekagram is a stronger wheel due to the flow form design ( semi forged) vs the cast design of Titans. Still love the look of the Titans but also totally in love with how 16’s with a 45 aspect ratio. rides.
that doesn’t sound very good, I would go for dekas but then I’d have to buy a whole new set of tires so that’s out the window. The other option I really wanted but it’s so hard to find any info on is the Bronze fifteen52 tarmacs but all I see on their website is gold. If not I really would love to pull the trigger on the titans but I don’t want to have to worry about hitting a pothole going down the street and wondering if my wheels are out of balance or bent lol

Those Fifteen 52’s are boat anchors. You live in LA you have to realize your wheels are susceptible and be extra careful . Even your stockers will take a beating we have so many potholes and in the worst possible places. Our roads absolutely suck.

Nice looking wheel and very low weight and OK price point.

BUT, I recommend looking into a few things, considering some, etc....

Search for specific issues like cracked wheels for that particular one as some Rota wheels have tended to do so.

Going to lower weight wheels then adding some of that back in the tire and the larger the diameter the more the effect, moving the mass further out, it will add more stress on the brakes and acceleration will be decreased which can and likely will negate any gain in overall grip from a bit wider tread.

The taller the tire the more it effects the gear ratio so it can lead to lower acceleration numbers as well but for autocrossers being able to stay in second gear instead of a quick shift up and down and less feedback can also negate any gain in added lateral grip.

As stated many times look at the weight and diameter but also the actual section width and tread width as those last two can be hugely misleading if you go by the sidewall numbers, some 225's are narrower than some 205's I have seen and there is a 195 that works great on an 8" wheel, things can be that far off.

I know I keep talking about this stuff on many threads and the main reason why is some have not seen the other posts and are new or not well informed when it comes to such matters and the simple fact that we cannot ignore physics, if we place style over performance there will be a degradation to the car and wheels and tires encompass all areas of performance, ride and wear and tare on the chassis.
Do Rotas still have these sub quality issues or are they in a better place now?

Rota’s are cast so they bend easier . If you have smooth roads and no potholes you are good . If you have potholes and are not super careful? You will at least have them go out of round over time . Or you will severely bend them to the point of not being able to fix. They bend in the spoke area the most . Now a heavier Rota like the Rewind or the TE knock off will not bend easily but weigh more but Titans can and will bend . Ask me how I know😂

I don't know if you are still looking for wheels, but if so, Phil's Tire Service in upstate N.Y. sells the KE Motorsports Pro T12s (12 spoke) in a 40ET 17x8, and they ARE FLOW FORMED and pass not only the JWL/VIA specs for safety/strength, but also the tougher German TUV spec as well.

Except for the not doubled up lip, lip flat brand name embossing, and being 12 spoke instead of 10 spoke, they look surprisingly similar to the Titans, especially the spoke shape/form.

They are ~17 lbs., but CONS; only come in satin black and gloss silver, and have the company name embossed into the lip area of the outer rim, if that bothers you at all.
I do not know what the Titans are going for currently, but these are currently $229.00 before shipping and taxes.
(I am going to drive there soon to have them install some 215/40-17 Yok AD09s on them for me and save the shipping, going for that very square shoulder edge, tarmac rally look [wink].)

Thanks Dpro. That is really helpful to know and being based in the UK where pot holes are literally everywhere Titans are struck off the list.

Yeah, LOL for the ribbing! [thumb]

But seriously, as you know, NO ONE offers a greater than 40ET numerical offset for these cars in any 8" wide wheel anymore, save for custom offset Braids @ >$600.00 per wheel, so aints gots no choice. [:(]
