What did you do to your Fiesta ST today ?

Installed the 4" SVT Design Fab intake. Pretty straightforward. This intake is massive. I makes the Injen intake I had look like spaghetti. I like the fact that all connections to the intake now are in front of the engine - nothing goes behind/over the engine.

Last pic is the "before" pic with the Injen intake.

drained my oil & tossed it right back in after driving 200 miles (used coffee filter to pull debris out), there was definitely glitter/shimmer all in that oil. pulled filter and cut the element out, almost no glitter in there. some black crud, carbon buildup getting out, whatever.
metal was not noticeable in the stream when draining but when i got to the bottom of the oil drain pan, it was. so, my motor will need to be rebuilt or replaced. i think i will start an “advice needed” thread or something. post the videos of each oil change i did there and go from there. i’m also getting excess pressure in my PCV catchcan which is making no sense atm. air getting forced out the dipstick hole when being taken out, maybe the intake manifold is plugged up. idk. torn on what to do with this car at this point. it’s silver and gold glimmer in the oil too i may add. this car has served me well for the 42k miles i have owned it and i don’t want to stop or switch to another fiesta, especially since this one is paid off.

With my Fiesta, I try to look at challenges like this as opportunities.

It's paid off! Thats awesome.

Some folks would say to get rid of it and get another car. There's a cost involved with doing that.

For the same cost, consider an engine rebuild, forged internals. depending on how much of.the work you are able to do yourself, the cost may be comparable. I've seen complete rebuilds (Mountune, Engineered Motorsport) but there are also folks who sell forged internals kits (Southtown Garage, Mountune, etc.). You get a (basically) new engine, one more durable than stock, capable of even more hp.

While 10k might seem expensive, you are basically getting g a new car engine-wise, and one that's an upgrade from your current ride. And if you do the work yourself to rebuild the engine the cost is less than half of that.

Good luck! I know that's a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach when you see that glitter. I've been there!

it’s tough since i don’t make a large amount of money to warrant this & my car is at 181k miles… i was thinking of either finding a part out car on copart and taking its motor or just finding a used 1.6 online and tossing it in this car on a budget. i have a clutch i can toss in, and my trans whines but i can’t afford to replace it, so i think i was just gonna run it. it would be awesome to put a built motor into this car, but i bought it for 10k at 139k miles and i don’t want to put an equivalent amount into a built motor, especially when the car needs ANOTHER turbo, other crap like a windshield, hood, exhaust (ideally), clutch pedal assy, etc 😅

Copart is a solid idea. Guy got a good running car for like $4k recently, just had a sensor problem.

Any fusion or escape 1.6t is the same base motor, so probably can get a much better price looking for those vs one labeled 'ST'.

All that said, they are too good to get rid of over such things. I still cant think of a daily I would like to have more...
