So I've never been a fan of buying an exhaust system, always have done the custom hack and weld route. Well, today I went and had a local shop cut off the stock muffler and weld in a magnaflow muffler with some new tips. To be honest if you were to sit inside you'd probably think it was still factory, so I guess the stock muffler wasn't very restrictive. There is a noticeable sound difference on the outside, but not in an "oh yea, that's definitely an aftermarket exhaust" kind of way. More like it sounds like a performance factory exhaust.
It's got me wondering what it would be like with a res. delete, the shop recommended trying out just the rear section for a while, and I quote "making it louder is really easy," according to them.
My biggest concern is drone, I know a lot of the res. delete posts say there isn't any drone cruising on the highway, but I get the impression that they're still on the factory muffler. I was contemplating either doing a delete, or what I've done in the past is replace the res. with a glasspack because they tend to be freer flowing, but still baffled to keep drone to nearly non-existent. I'd hate to pay for them to cut the res out, and then realize I don't like it and then have to do the work again by welding in a glasspack.
Any help from the crowd?
