Hey folk...

Thanks to George aka GTP for cuing me to these mods...

I did interior LEDs a while back but never exterior...then I did fog lights a few months ago and now here today I've added a few inexpensive budget LEDs for my reverse lights and low beams.

Features of these products:

+ inexpensive
+ well-reviewed
+ plug and play easy install

I know some folks like to go all-out when it comes to their projector/LED setup. In my case I just wanted something that required little to no thought for install and wouldn't blind other drivers as some setups do.

Both sets of bulbs were $52 together ($38 front low beams, $14 reverse) so this is a cheap mod that brings some nice return. Heck I spent $150 on my fogs and they're not nearly as useful as these.

These are great products, the front ones even have a fan for each bulb, that might be standard but I didn't know it was a thing. Pretty cool.

Install was 2 minutes per light in the back and 5 minutes per light in the front. Everything was swell except the passengers side front did present a little problem, the light once installed was flush with the access hole which means that the rubber cap that fits on to keep dust etc. out would not seat. I had to trim it a little bit as pictured below. The one picture with my finger shows the light touching the access hole on one side and the part of the rubber cap I trimmed on the other. The important thing here is once re-installed you need to make sure that fan is still spinning and not being crushed by the cap that doesn't fit. I checked, both were spinning so all is well. Just plug it in, lights on, and listen for the little fan. I added a bit of hot glue at the end to keep that area sealed.

BTW if you're new to the car and you found this thread, check out my video on headlight installation without cussing, it will help you.

Anyhow I'm happy, going for a test drive tonight when dark but I can already tell these are going to be fantastic. This is one of those cheap easy fun no-stress mods, the lights even have instructions with broken English which adds to the experience every time.

If the product is failure...

Here's what I was talking about, the light is too close so I had to trim the rubber cap

Added some hot glue to seal it up since I cut it a bit

LED on the left, regular bulb on the right

LED on the right, regular on the left, looks great!!!

I'll post more thoughts after I drive in the dark some...

Noooooo! Not another LED headlight bulb thread! Holy glare batman!

https://www.danielsternlighting.com/
Meh, thanks for the link.....I haven't read anything on LED headlights before so if this is overkill I apologize, didn't realize the market was saturated.

These are not the evil glaring headlight LEDs that some people are rocking. They get great reviews and are very well-made...I drove around tonight and they are fantastic, a great upgrade, drove toward hundreds of oncoming drivers in my outing and not one flashed their lights at me.

No glare, no blinding others, plug and play, excellent visibility. It can be done for less money.

I haven't looked at our car but I think they can be adjusted as such in this video, I remember reading that it was possible elsewhere on this forum with a Phillips screwdriver, I'm gonna look tomorrow as one is a tiny bit lower than the other:

Quick update after a few more days of driving...

I continue to be impressed with the improvement in visibility, quite a difference from regular bulbs, and the price is right. This is a must-do mod for anyone IMHO, you get a lot for your money here.

I've driven by hundreds of cars in oncoming traffic since installing and still not one person has flashed their lights at me so these pass the "LEDs that blind other drivers" test.

Great great great, it's been many months now and not a single person has flashed me. Headlights are wonderful, it's one of those mods that you keep appreciating, the other day I was going to work in the dark one morning and was thinking "wow these headlights really are terrific".

This is an A+ mod.

As always thanks for your stellar reviews. I've placed an order for the low beams, backup lights, and also some extended rubber caps to accommodate the LED housings. looking forward to Tomorrow when they arrive!
Cheers,

Sure thing man.

Would you post a link for the extended rubber caps? I didn't realize that was a thing, I'd like to get some.

Thanks!!!

Awesome thanks. Is it the 75mm version? If not what size fits ours?
I have the inner diameter is 72mm for a snug fit. 75mm should work. may need a rubber band on the housing if not tight. Or get 70mm and stretch it. Personally I would go 70mm

Texted my buddy earlier. He said he ordered 75mm version. And they had to be stretched over the covers. Sounds like the 70mm version might be a tight fit. I'll report back tonight on how the 75mm fits.

Thanks for reviewing these Jeff!

Sooooooo

I had to really stretch the 75mm versions. But it is a very snug and tight fit.

I think you may run into the 70mm being a little too tight. Might be difficult to stretch them around the housing....

I believe it all depends on where in the measurements. The outer hole on the headlight assembly is about 73mm. So depending on how the measurement is done on the cap will make it easy or not.

70mm came in today. Way too small, won't fit on the outer diameter ring nor into the middle crevasse ring, gonna look into the 75mm once @CSM reports back.

75 worked like a champ. You have to stretch it a bit but it's nice and snug. Once you start working the material it's easier to stretch. would recommend getting them!

Also these lights are awesome!
