Those 225/40-17s check every single box for me, except for tread width. [:(]

The Nankang AR-1s in 215/40-17s are wider in tread width (not to mention their AR-1s AND NS-2Rs in 225/45-16s, which are MUCH wider), but yes, they will not last as long on multiple extended open track sessions as those HoosiContis.

I have no idea. All I know is Continental AG bought Hoosier in 2016 for $140 million.
I wonder if that had any influence on Hoosier developing and selling gravel (and tarmac) actual rally spec tires shortly after that. [dunno]

RS4s are excellent at lapping forever, but aren't the fastest. They're better for lap counts than lap times. I loved them on my 15" wheels for the Fiesta and I'm on my second set on my current track rat Miata. I kept each set on for over a year, but they're definitely not fresh after 12 months (still set P.B.s but mostly because I'm not fast). Unfortunately Hankook's 17" size options for you are a 225/45R17 or a 245/40R17. I'm not sure if either will fit under your fenders.

I ran R888s on 16" wheels before I went to 15s, and they were also great at lapping consistently after a little bit more warm-up. I kept feathering the tread on mine, so they got loud on the street, but my solution was to just swap wheels at events. You'd probably be happy with them, but I don't know their relative price off the top of my head.

Grassroots Motorsport/Andy Hollis did a write-up of the current state of track tires:
https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/track-tire-buyers-guide/

I want to try the Nankang AR-1s or Nitto NT01s on the Miata, but the Conti's also look great since they partnered with Hoosier. But I'm expecting the Contis to be expensive.
I wish I could run RS4s but they’re too tall in 17”. I think I’ll try the 225 Continental Extreme Force next. The RT615K+ definitely isn’t the fastest tire but I can track it year round and it’s always consistent. Sucks they stopped making it in 235/40/17 because I think it will be ideal and it’s cheap. I’ve come really close to pulling the trigger on AR1s but haven’t. I sorta consider Nankang shittier than Federal. UK Fiesta guys seem to love them though. I definitely don’t want a tire that’s “great for the price”. I have too much money in this car to buy weak tires.

There’s nothing more frustrating than going out for a session and five laps in the tires are cooked. I don’t care how “fast” they are. I’d rather drive until I’m mentally exhausted than pull off a trophy lap. The Continental hype is promising. We’ll see.

This has been sitting in my office for a few months. I love my halo seat so I don’t want to swap. I can’t decide if I want to keep this or sell it..

Rolling these front fenders is a pain. The front tip won’t pull out without some cutting and a lot of heat. In the end, I have to have someone clean and repaint it. After loosening the bolts and sliding the fender out then rolling and pulling as much as I could, I think I can fit 235s easily in the front. I’ll find out next week after they’re mounted to the rims. Rolling and pulling the rear doesn’t seem possible so I’ll probably just stick with 215 RT660s back there. Having a 235 up front will be much better. Hopefully this day wasn’t wasted.. Here’s a naked front pic.

I decided to sell my M2 flares if anyone is interested. $600 plus shipping. They’re new, never installed. As soon as I get back to the shop I’ll take pics and post them in the For Sale section but if you’re reading this and want them, PM me.

The inside of the front tire is about 5mm from the spring. Pretty sure the front will be fine with my existing camber but the rear will likely need massaging.

I’ll post another update after I’ve had a chance to drive it. They’re tall but my car is about stock height. I’m optimistic but definitely not holding my breath.
