Any updates on instructions on how to get to the thermostat housing or where it's located?

Here's an installation guide from AllData, may not help much but it's a start.

Also, labor times according to All-Data are 1.7 hours under warranty, 2.1 hours otherwise. There's clearly a secret to replacing these that doesn't involve such a tedious process. The installation guide mentions nothing about removing the front half of the vehicle, but removing the alternator and draining coolant.
