Here's pics of my imperfections. Not nearly as bad as some others but might as well get it early before any real damage is done.

Man after I saw this thread I thought “please not me...”
But my hatch is bubbled same as the rest of you
It really makes me mad and disappointed. We just sold our 17 RS due to quality issues now this . Ford really let me down. Wife just brought home a Veloster N. Not sure what I’m going to do

Was the RS due to paint issues too or something else? And I have a feeling these paint issues are one of the main reasons they stopped making cars. Not only that but the mechanical problems their cars have. Yes cars aren’t selling well but other manufacturers continue to make cars and not just kill them all off like Ford has. Veloster N was a good choice tho!

RS was all mechanical. Axle seals , head gasket , faulty ground cable, boost pipes coming off, mode switching randomly not working, and continuous small oil leaks. 20k Miles never raced very disappointed

I have this paint lifting issue near the edges too on my 2015. I bought my st used from a Dodge dealership. Does anyone know how I should go about getting warranty work done since I didn't buy it from a Ford dealer?
Not happen I'm afraid to say.... I was at 37k When I found Mine on the liftgate on my 2015. ford dealer told me to Beat Feet. So I decided to give my money on my next purchase to another manufacturer as this left a Sour taste in my mouth. ford....Notice I don't really give them the proper capitalization when I mention them as they are not worthy. Other than that Great car though .... but piss poor paint and quality control.

Do like I'm doing ...Keeping the FiST and no longer going to give my money to ford. The FiST was my first brand new car and my last new car from ford. Its sad....it just shows how ford is...Henry would shake his head if he was still alive today and be a shamed of how far ford has fallen from the quality tree.

That is the conclusion that I came to, and the bodyshop manager at the dealership said much the same. I've got very little faith in getting a real solution out of Ford for this, and it's very unlikely that I will own this car for much longer. I returned it to stock (sans LSD) on Saturday. Now I wait.
Similar situation on my Kona blue 16. I'm trying to find a rustproofing compound I saw about five years ago. It's a kit that would allow me to pull the interior doors panels and apply it with the provided wand into the door seams. The issue is definitely a primer process failure. Probably during the cleaning process before the body shell was dipped into the Electro coat bath. Something like that. My 2011 Fiesta has no paint bubbling issues. So, something changed.
I'm going to do a rustproofing application and then paint repair as a winter project.
If others are interested in more information about how I am going to proceed with this they can speak up. It will be rather involved and include the prep and paint. I already have the Kona basecoat to paint the new vented hood panel. So, this will happen in parallel with that project.
It's going to be a busy winter.

I think it's because they don't apply seam sealer all the way around as there are sections of the seams that are left exposed. I think grinding away the old seam sealer, rust, paint, down to bare metal, then prime, seam sealer all the way around, then just respray the inners will work.

The bodyshop manager came out to talk to me and said that what I wanted may turn out to big a more of a pain then I want.

He was really understanding and knew I was anal about my car so he wanted to talk to me before any repairs so that I wouldn't be unsatisfied with the work. He pretty much said "be careful what you wish for." He didn't mean that in a mean way, what he meant was that he recommends just fixing the hatch for now and leaving the doors since they're not that bad. He said this because there might be faint paint lines on the inside of the doors and to blend it around the door but then they might need to paint the whole door so it matches. Its pearl paint so no telling that all 4 doors wouldn't match then they would need to paint the entire car. I appreciate his honesty and he just didn't want to roll the dice and have me be unhappy with the turnout since he knows how I am.

So we came to the conclusion that we'll fix the few spots on the hatch and the lower parts on the driver door since those are the worst spots. Pretty much touch them up but do it properly with a paint gun, sanding, prepping, etc. I have pictures I'll post on the process.

I don't mind the conclusion we came to. I just want it to not rust since I plan to keep it for awhile and the only spot that had rust was on the hatch where the paint was literally peeling. Just spotty rust, very light.

My dealer (VERY surprisingly) approved the roof antenna area/surround respray for the under surface rust bubbles, and mine is not as bad as some on here.

Do they at least TRY to seal up that area with a better grommet/waterproof body caulking at all when fixing this, in order to prevent it in the future?? [dunno]

I have put in a a warranty claim for replacement hood, front doors and hatch. I just want the service replacement parts. I will go away happy if I can do my own paint and install. The cost of rustproofing these rusting seams would be a double waste of money and time!

The manager at my dealer's body shop (dealer owned, 'semi-chain' [CarStar] but separate from Ford) told me that he would probably just replace the WHOLE doors/hatch/hood to repair this, rather than try to correct/fix the factory parts, since he was going by the process they approve for Explorer/F-150 aluminum hood corrosion debacle, where they DO replace and spray a new alloy hood for the customer.

Somehow I seriously DOUBT that Dearborn would approve that kind of expense for a car that they lost money on to begin with. [:(]

Yeah my ford dealer said that ford doesn’t want to waste time
Trying to fix the areas and instead they replace the panels. My hood is getting replaced next week for this. Lol might ask for my old one back as very worried about them not getting a good match :(

Yeah I probably wouldn't want that to be done to mine considering I have pearl paint. Then next thing you know all the doors and hood might not match the rest of the car then they have to paint the whole car. Thats why the BS manager came to talk to me about it

I was finally able to drop my car off at the dealer today. It took 56 days since the initial claim for the work to be approved by Ford, and an additional 24 days for dealer to take it in for work.

In any case, it's finally getting done. This will certainly not be the last of it, however. You guys are lucky in a way - Ford would only approve a strip and respray on mine. The body shop manager stated, "Let's be real, it's gonna come back," but his hands are tied by what Ford will reimburse the dealer for.

I suppose we'll see how it turns out.
I tried asking the service rep people about the 5 year/whatever mileage, extended, rust-through, 'perforation' warranty (the one which goes beyond the 3 year one, and just how bad it actually has to be to be covered under that (like completely through to the outside door/hatch/hood skin, or just a little worse than what everyone on here is posting??), and they were totally clueless as to the answer to that question. [mad]

No. That won't stop the corrosion that is crawling out of the concealed seams. Sealer will probably accelerate the rust inside the seams that we are just now able to see creeping out of the edges of the inner door shells.
In just a few years there will be good running, fully functional Fiesta ST's for sale with grossly rusted body panels, Thank God for all those still clean basic Fiesta hatchback's that won't run anymore due to accidents or something else. Those cars are going to be the salvation of the Fiesta ST!

I have a 14 so the comments about it only being late year models is incorrect. We just accepted that ford has a quality issue by now. I started noticing issues about 2 years in. I got my hood completely resprayed, then after a few more trips where I kept finding more issues I got the roof, most of the hatch and supposedly all 4 doors with some quarter panel spot strip and spraying as well. Also the inside where the spare tire goes had all the paint off and was bare metal. I still have door, quarter panel, and hatch issues. They did the work at 35,9xx miles and got the approval in just before I went out of warranty by miles and time. My dealership body shop was great about paint matching and working with me and the shop manager said he didnt understand why they didnt just buy my car back as it was expensive and he agreed that it was not going to fix anything. He was right, I still have issues and at this point i have just accepted that it will have paint issues. I bought it new June of 2014, it was produced in May. Ford definitely has paint issues but I have enjoyed everything else about the car and have had minimal reliability issues. I tried to get more done but Ford already fought the shop manage and took months to pay him for the work as they questioned everything he did. It was a lot of work and I was told it wasnt worth the hassle on his end.
