The manager at my dealer's body shop (dealer owned, 'semi-chain' [CarStar] but separate from Ford) told me that he would probably just replace the WHOLE doors/hatch/hood to repair this, rather than try to correct/fix the factory parts, since he was going by the process they approve for Explorer/F-150 aluminum hood corrosion debacle, where they DO replace and spray a new alloy hood for the customer.
Somehow I seriously DOUBT that Dearborn would approve that kind of expense for a car that they lost money on to begin with.
