lkQUOTE="gtx3076, post: 379120, member: 11673"]There are independent shops that can maintain your vehicle. Look at Tesla, they sell their cars directly to consumers, but they certify contractors to install the car chargers. The car companies could do the same thing, issue certifications (if at all) to repair shops.
I've never had my car maintained or serviced by a dealer, all my cars have been bought used and I either did it myself or paid a trusted local repair shop.[/QUOTE]
There are many states Tesla cannot sell cars by state laws. And who is going to order a car without looking at it and driving it? Reality is car dealers are going nowhere, the makers want nothing to do with sales. Plus the new car dealers lobbyists are very, very strong (ask Tesla!) and is why you have to have a service facility or you can't sell new cars in many states. So no laws will be changed and the makers can afford to buy all the votes needed to stop any attempt at that insanity. Many smaller companies will just walk away.........
